Open stance golf swing feels very natural

For sure the open stance is not new and there are some pro’s who have such a swing. But of course not with my infamous step back which in fact closes it again somewhat. Not completely though.
My guess is that my many years in tennis where I hit my forehand with an open stance why this feels so natural and effortless for me. Of course I’m aware that there are many moving parts … but that’s the same as in other racket sports. Ice- and land hockey are also examples although there is a difference in what the lead hand is.
These sessions are experimental and I will gain experience in swinging the club. There are no losses in this as it’s just as easy of closing the stance again some more. I found a way to find my spot with regards to my distance and forward placing of the ball. There are easier marks for me.
So … we will continue the journey.

This time great music by: “Orbit Culture”
Song: “Vultures of North”

Metal and Golf … a combination you hardly find.
Golf vids from a golf beginner to now novice playa … you hardly find them.

Nothing in this video should be taken too seriously and I hope you like the combination of the two worlds. There might some motor cycling and what evah floats my boat.

  1. I certainly prefer open over closed. At our age it gives us some space. I swtiched to open when I was 30 because I was having problems with my body. It just gets us out of our own way so we can swing our fastest. It's not technically correct but then my back isn't technically correct either!

  2. I had a Titleist fitting last week and the fitter asked me to open my stance a little….BOMBS down the range! You're very open at address but as you say, when you move your right foot back in the back swing it nearly becomes neutral. Looks great Eric. Keep it going over the Autumn/Winter. Orbit Culture are fantastic. Just downloaded this album on Qubuz because of you. Stay metal m/

  3. This seems like a great swing for you! Abraham Ancer plays a bit like this, with an open stance. Better for his hip.

  4. Very nice Eric! I play with a slightly open stance. I think it helps to clear your hips and get to your left side much easier. The hardest part for me which I have been working on is making sure that I am swinging down the target line while my hips are turning left. I think this is a great drill and should help you to release the club more freely. I just love watching Fred Couples play. He is my favorite golfer to watch and to try to emulate. His swing has so much great tempo and he makes it look effortless. You should try your open stance next time you play golf.

  5. You have a very long swing I think a wider stance will really help you!! I saw from my last video I need to try to stand closer and more upright to the ball. I did that last year and it really helped. Recording the swing helps a lot!! Hope you are taking advantage of the golden October!! Moving your right foot back should help close the stance which helps you turn around your body more cause or producing a draw swing!! And the open stance helps you get through the ball more at least that is what it looks like to me!!👍😀🏌‍♂🤘🤘

  6. Great tempo in your swing, I know there is an entire philosophy on an open stance, I can't remember what they call it, but it does work for many people. Looks like you are making progress. Keep it up man!
