Can we win the FIRST OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP using Hickory clubs?!

We take on the first Open Champion venue, Prestwick, in its original 12-hole layout to see what we would have scored at the 1860 Open… and, to make things even fairer, we’re using hickory clubs!

  1. No idea what went down between
these lads and Rick. But he just posted a video 3 days ago from there. Would’ve been awesome to see a 1.5 hour vid split into two parts. I still watch your old match videos while at work. Quality content. Kiss and make up boys. For the greater good of the YouTube golf community

  2. As others have said, these clubs are considered "modern hickory" and were in play from 1900-1935. Most of the clubs I saw are at least 60 newer than 1860. I'd love to see a video like this where you guys talk about the clubs and club makers in way that isn't just about how hard they are to play. You should collab with @thehickoryhacker and he can show you what 1860s featherie golf was all about.

  3. Miss the carter, shiels, and finch days. Would love to see a new version of golf bidder challenge, “ hickory bidder challenge” lol

  4. That was a lot of fun to watch. So good. You guys looked great to. Pete those shoes are glorious. Thanks guys

  5. I very much enjoy watching you play hickory clubs. I'd also like to see you play pyratone shafted clubs and those from the 50s and 60s. Keep 'em comin'. Thanks.

  6. I want to start a Hickory Club, but I'm not sure I convince enough people to pay 2k ish dollars for a hobby club.

  7. Just got back from Scotland and feeling so bummed I didn't get to make it to a course. I might just have to go spend a month there next year. Seeing courses like this all around made it so hard to leave…

  8. Andy packing absolute heat, damn what a man-rocket!
It does make up for those first couple of holes in my book.
Finchy you look like sherlock Holmes's estranged big brother. Still a handsome devil of course!

  9. What an odd time a time where Ole Andy Carter is a magician on the greens. Calamity Jane needs to go in the bag

  10. Great video love seeing things like that and would love to do that myself. I've tried with 50s and 60s clubs but not hickory would love to get a set and try myself but left handed clubs are hard enough without getting a hickory set

  11. Such a shame you didn't practice with the clubs and take it seriously, pull any of those players from the 1860's into the 2000's and they would be around par round Bethpage Black, 25-30 shots ahead of any of you..
Taking the micky like you did was in appalling taste.

  12. Great video. Not trying to stir up any fan vs fan drama but I’m trying to understand the connection to this channel and Rick Shiels. I’ve watched a few of Rick’s videos recently and I thought this was another of his when I first saw the thumbnail. The look seems very similar and the content seems similar to something Rick had out a few days ago. Are these guys collaborating, is someone copying the other, just coincidence?

  13. You have one of (if not) my favourite swings to watch out of any youtube golfer.. I love effortless looking swings!

  14. Watched both this, and the Rick Shiels version. Whilst Rick is terrible at golf and awful to listen to, the camera work from his team is much better. At least the Finch content is much better though.

  15. Fantastic achievement chaps. Hard to imagine how well you would play from the calamity on the first tee, but some beautiful golf later on! New history created by Young Peter Finch and Young Andy Carter. I love hitting persimmons, I really want to try hickory now.

  16. Who knew Carter was the key to more course vlogs from all the OGs?!? Love the crossover content, keep it coming!

  17. That looks like great fun but let us not forget they were playing with no gloves or special shoes and they were hitting a feathery ball.
