If you’re ready to start crushing your irons with staggering accuracy, today’s lesson is for you.

See, there is one thing all great iron strikers do.

This thing has been the silver bullet for all the golfers I’ve coached in my 30 years.

It didn’t matter if they were young or experienced, amateurs are professional.

This one, simple rule is guaranteed to work for everybody.

And everybody includes you.

Today I’m divulging the secret in a lesson you won’t want to miss.

  1. I think consistent “strike” is the biggest leap to become a scratch player. Then clubface, or direction is a close second. Then short game for third place. Here’s the reason I say this…. I hit maybe 2 balls a hair thin the other day, but absolutely no skulls, fats, or tops. Therefore, my distance control was consistent, and predictable. My direction was slightly off…. I was in the rough a few times with driver, and only hit 12/18 greens, but every ball was comfortably in play with driver, and either on, or somewhere near the green on approach shots. With strike, and direction being solid, I could then count on short game to score. I had 23 total putts, and got up n down 5 out of 6 times. Shot 7 under(65). My best round ever! What I’m saying is…. Even with a mediocre chipping n putting day, I would have still been comfortably around par. I encourage everyone to focus on strike more than anything else. Zero skulls, fats, or tops. Then direction. Then hitting it further. Short game simply comes with experience, and some days you’ll be on, and some days you’ll be off. However, if you strike it pure every time, and direction is pretty close, you’ll always have chances to score. You CANNOT skull, fat, or top your way around the golf course course, and expect to score. I don’t care how well you’re chipping n putting that day. Love your content.

  2. Coach I love hitting my irons, 3 (4 out of the bag) 5 6 7 8 9 . It took me a long time to buy a 5W and Hybrid. I do have wedges 52 56 60 PW and using them more from 75 yards and in.
Not sure if this is correct to say but I believe iron play looks like refine golf.

  3. Hi Todd It's Glenn from the UK. I keep pushing balls to the right. (right-handed) normally hit the fairway but to the right. How can I stop doing this, please

  4. Hi Todd. Just been out on 9 hole Course. Still struggling with the slice on the driver with right foot back (closed stance) but I did get some straight drives and iron shots but not gone very far.
In fact that is what I'm asking your advice about my irons. Of the raised tee they go high and far very happy but off the fairway they go low and embarrassing short. I have no idea what I've done wrong. Any ideas?
    Thanks

  5. 64 years old, north Georgia (Go Dawgs!). My career kept me away from golf for 30+ years. Now retired, I"m finally able to get back to the game I love. Your Vertical Swing is wonderful. Honestly, can't tell I've lost much distance. Still hit my 8 iron 150 with control. My 3 iron is a secret weapon (fairways & tees). However, the Vertical Swing is certainly a more relaxed, repeatable, pain free swing. I've watched dozens of your videos. The instruction contained in them is straightforward and easily understood. Each day I check for your new videos. Now, if I could just remember how to use my putter! Thanks for your teaching!

  6. Todd, 66 from San Antonio. I've added your new book to my Christmas wish list. Enjoy your videos
