AMAZING Results When Amateur Golfer Plays With PRO STRATEGY

How good can an amateur golfer be playing golf with a pro strategy and thought process?

Joe is a 30 handicap golfer who is improving fast, but just how much better could he be if he were to think he was around a golf course……. thats exactly what this video aims to find out.

Joe plays the 12th hole par 5 at the forest of Arden using his own strategy, he then plays another ball using the guidance of Chris Ryan to see what the difference in score is.

  1. Great to understand it isn't all about the swing. I have got to get better at the strategy side of the game.

  2. Could you review mistakes you see in this strategy after? I think the shot he tried to play around the tree was wrong. He should have pitched out. I think it cost him a shot.

  3. I read somewhere a few years that golf is 90% mental and this video is pretty much proof of that. Solid thought processes and good course managment saved a 30 marker 3 strokes on one hole and no doubt changed the way Joe thinks about how he plays each hole. Great video Chris.

  4. Chris I would like to see more content like this. Definitely an eye opener for high handicappers highlighting just how quickly strokes add up 👍🏻🇦🇺

  5. Agree with another video like this, I have changed my approach shots for example long par 3 I tend to use a 5 or 2 hybrid as I know it will go that distance I need.
Shorter par 3 I tend to use irons, for me it's how confident and consistent I am with each club and using marker's/ reference points.
    Again great video Chris

  6. He got a better swing than me and my index is 12.7!!! If he can use the course management he will be winning some comps and be called all kinds of Banditary names. 😂😂
Would like to see more of his journey!
PS. Not easy to do it on camera too!

  7. Love the content.
Given a high handicap a £2.50 ball to help with putting! 🤦🏻‍♂️

  8. Would definitely like to see the type of video that you described at the end. How the amateur would play the shot and then how the pro would play the shot.

  9. This was terrific. One modification I would suggest for a future video like this, after Joe hits his shot from trouble, like the two 8-irons on this hole, pause and tell him how you would have played that shot, if differently. This pro knowledge is critical as many strokes can be avoided just by playing smart.

  10. It was really interesting Chris. I like the format you used here to demonstrate the difference. It was also noticeable that your thoughts were positive/constructive – choose the target, line up the ball, etc – even though you were allowing for his inconsistent shots. My thoughts are negative – don’t go in the water, don’t go in the bushes, don’t pull it, don’t shank it, (I could go on!)🙄 Sometimes I wonder why I play the game at all 😂

  11. massive part of golf is making the right decisions , i lose 5 or 6 shots a round from making bad choices , this video perfectly demonstrates where most of us can make huge improvements on our score cards .

  12. The better ball scenario on a Par 3 and Par 4 would be good addition to this. Add to that what to do when you mess up a shot, the "starting point" of those 8's and 9's!

  13. Tried the practice swing toe pointing to the left ,what a difference. Been battling a slice first shot stright. Next shot alittle slice but still in the fairway.on the 4th hole not only did I hit it straight but picked up some yardage maybe 20 yds.finished the round feeling pretty good about my drives thanks Chris

  14. I really like the idea! I’ve learnt a lot. I’m very new to the golf. It was an eye opener, what a difference the strategy can make. Thanks a lot!

  15. Great content, the channel had become my favorite technical golf channel by far. Not sticking to old descriptions to teach but instead it seems like you really sit and think about how you can recreate these ideas that feels digestible but still articulate. Cheers keep going my man

  16. Also I think a really good video that there really isnt any good content on is showing exactly what it is to be playing with clubs that don't fit you. I played my first 2 years with clubs that were almost 2 inches short and being a beginner I had no idea and could only play decent golf if I bent over and then leading to back pain. If there was a clear video on how shots look like when playing with short clubs or long clubs for you it wouldve saved me so much time instead of trying to fix all these different swing flaws when really I just needed an extension.

  17. I really liked the video. Great insight into thought process and course management. Would love to see more videos like this, maybe take other golfers that are 18+ handicaps, have them playing a course they normally play and average score on 3 holes, you do the same to see how you can help them save strokes. keep up the great content

  18. Would love to see more of these! It might also be neat to do a series working on Joe’s game. Maybe a round played at his current ability, then 3 or 4 lessons addressing certain swing elements or strategy, then another round to see how he’s improved?

  19. Great format, would like to see this continued. I play off 17 H.I., and much of my current effort is course management and strategy…mostly I can hit the ball, although sometimes not so good.

  20. Good idea for a series Chris, definitely worth following up on. I played a round recently with the Tour Response ball, liked it for feel and how it played, but found it very hard to spot even in the semi rough if too much of the yellow part of the ball was upright. It's a good idea for a ball but I think I might keep it for putting practice rather than use out on the course for this reason.
