A Course Fit For A Queen: Women’s Irish Open Returns!

After 10 years, the Women’s Irish Open returns to the Ladies European Tour Schedule. Dromoland Castle is the venue set to host this brilliant tournament from September 22-25.

Jonny travelled to Clare to spend time with Eamonn O’Donnell, Director of Golf and play the course with Irish International Golfer, Aideen Walsh, to see exactly what awaits the tour professionals in a couple of weeks’ time.

To prepare for the event, Eamonn and his team embarked on developing the course to a standard that this event deserved and it is now a course fit for a champion! From new tee boxes and bunkers throughout the course to a brand new fairway on the iconic 18th hole, it is sure to be a dramatic week!

Defending champion, Catriona Matthew will join Leona Maguire in what’s shaping up to be a terrific field ahead of the €400,000 tournament, with this year’s runaway Scandinavian Mixed winner, Linn Grant, also committed to the tournament.

This year will mark the 16th edition of an event that boasts a past winners’ list that includes current Solheim Cup Captain, Suzann Pettersen, England’s Laura Davies and the 2021 Solheim Cup winning Captain, Matthew.
