I can't believe I made this MISTAKE…

This will probably go down as the biggest mistake on my YouTube golf channel to date and probably for ever…

  1. Lol 😂
Well recovered Simon. FYI in 1988 there was another iconic but underrated iron release. Taylormade tour preferred TD. Blades 5-PW hollow body 1-4
You should give them a try and tell us what is really better than those in the last 34 years

  2. Don’t forget from 1978-81, it was just Wilson Staff Tour Blades (no FG marking) but otherwise the same. Maybe not forgiving but for some reason easier to hit square, especially 7 iron to PW.

  3. Wilson Irons every you tuber votes them as most under rated but due to little PR and Adverts the golf snobs still turn their heads away. Been using Wilson since the John Daley Wild Thing SET…then Fatshafts then the Di now in the C300 forged which I picked up Brand New 4 – GW plus a free 4 ball for AUD$500 best bargin and great clubs… although currently waiting for the right set and price for the new D9 Forged..it's good as their 2nd prices are great. Love the content and your vides Simon great work.

  4. Wilson Staff are my favorite to restore on my channel. I have maybe 10 sets of Wilson irons now and those restorations are really popular with my subscribers. The people who know, KNOW.

I love their irons so much that applied for a job in their digital marketing department. They said they 'liked my enthusiasm' and passed. 😞

  5. You don’t see Wilson here in the States, couldn’t give them away and that’s a shame. I know they’re making great stuff

  6. You looking for a set of these? Just seen some FG-17’s 3-9iron for $20 each online. LMK. Love your videos 👍

  7. Diamonds might be a girls best friend … But chromes a boys best mate.

  8. Just found some beautiful second hand Japanese domestic market Wilson Staff irons. Tab TC-1 model from mid-2000's. Blade thin topline, SP700 titanium face, tungsten sole weighting, ahead of their time. Also picked up a Japanese Wilson Staff driver of the same era. Pd5 model, hot titanium cup face, carbon crown.

  9. That’s the price of Wilson Staff blades going up in price then 😂 Currently after a set myself

  10. Well done Simon! Most of the time comments just get ;lost in the void and we're left wondering whether the creator even acknowledges them. The fact that you made a whole video after a comment just shows your class.

  11. You also missed out the Taylormade 300 form forged irons also the Adams CMB or XTD forged ..These set have a cult following out in the USA

  12. I had a set of goosenecks back in the day!! I really liked them!! And those blades looks really nice!! I would love to have a set of those again they gave instant feedback!!😀

  13. Totally agree, I had a set of FG-17's in the 80's they were awesome and I regret the day I sold them – have replaced with some Dunlop Australian Blades, which look spectacular 👌

  14. I started with Wilson Fat Shaft irons in 2002. Then had Wilson Staff ci9 and then ci11 irons. The Ci11s were the best looking clubs by a mile. I had the tw9 wedges 52 56 60, same length (stock option), and that made a huge difference to my scores. Wilson irons were great value for money. The c300 forged is an amazing club that I never bought and wished I had. Prices rocketed recently and I do wonder if that will be a mistake by Wilson Staff

  15. Ah FFS Simon, everytime I come to terms with sticking with my newly acquired Mizuno JPX921 HM you through a curve ball, a cheaper curve ball, a tastier curve ball 🥴

  16. Look how marked these club faces are through bag clatter. I would hate that if they were mine.

  17. Yes Wilson baby – I play C200 I mean they feel a little old now and I'd love to make a change but I go still love them

  18. I recently put the FG Tour v4 in my bag, and I am loving them. Forged feel but forgiving enough for a 13 handicap who can strike the ball well. I picked up the set for about $150 and it's a steal

  19. Grad Video Simmon! You just made my day as I'm currently using Di7's and wondered why nobody talked about Wilson!

  20. Really enjoyed your honesty, this is why I press "like" on all your videos. Keep doing what you are doing as your videos are a class act !!

  21. Don't feel bad Simon. Wilson gets ignored. I think they list some credibility with the fat shaft clubs but for recreational golfers they worked! The controversy about those said more about the golfers who weren't willing to try something different than the idea itself. At any rate Wilson weathered the storm and is doing fine now. Interesting that their top of the line blades don't seem to generate the interest of a say Mizuno or Miura. Why? A good question for a single digit handicapper.

  22. I am glad you did this video 😂
I really like wilson. There utility iron is one of my favorite and the second hand price is amazing

  23. Hi Simon
i have a set of FG17 irons which i purchased for £50 . The widge is poor but the rest arn ok. I also have a FG17 1 iron if you wanted to test it
Nice to see you got around to Wilson irons . Great video as usual .

  24. Without watching the full video, the top brand is, WILSON, and to be honest, even now, deserve some love. In your defence Simon, they have become the forgotten brand. Mainly due to the other big brands, having large advertising budgets, and the ability to get the top players to game them, as they once did Wilson, because they were one of the best out there.

  25. Looking at that 4 iron I wouldn’t whether it’s better to hit it or butter my toast 😂😂😂😂
