The Disc Golf Shoe – ARE THEY ANY GOOD?

Today we try out the Idio Disc Golf shoe! I was really excited to try out these shoes and have been wearing them for the last couple of months, and I love there. There was one big issue that I had but they addressed it and I’m looking forward to the future of the shoe and the company in the space.

  1. I think it's odd that I can't find any information about the materials they're made with. I'm assuming they're not vegan or they would advertise that, but now I'm just curious.

  2. I seen them every time I think what are those!!!! lol but probably the dad in me , I’m like they look cool tbh I can see me wearing them

  3. Love the shoes. They are super comfortable right out the box! I never have to worry about my footing

  4. Nike Free Polkas. Gotta be my shoe of choice wild looking but awesome. No laces, one piece sole, water proof, toe protection. They do take a lil to break in though. I love that this company is trying to capture this specific market though. Genius, keep up the good work fellas.

  5. One question that hasn't been addressed in any of the Idio reviews I've seen: Are you wearing your "normal" shoe size, or did you have to go with something different for this model?

    Thank you.

  6. I'm loving my Keens currently. They're a little pricey at $165. If they last 6 months, I'll be happy, as I'm really hard on shoes with me throwing FH/BH and often dragging my back foot. I can't find Adidas Terrex in my town anymore, but I did really like the several pairs I had of those.

  7. Don't care that they come in a bag (bells and whistles). Most likely, I would toss it.
I would be interested with a diagram of how they are constructed and what material was used. Glued or sewn?
Did you test them for water tightness. Play a round a rainy or snowing day. Did your socks/feet get wet.
On video I watched, the guy filled the shoe up with water and demonstrated that they don't leak.
What did the manufacturer do to keep them from separating??? Is there a money back guarantee??
The separating issue is a red flag indicating poor quality control.
Where are they made and by whom??

I'm not a fan of subjective evaluations.
Unless it's done with several people participating and given specific criteria to evaluate.

  8. They don’t look so good. Noticed the tops of the shoes and seems like a lot of gap that twists. Doesn’t look like a secure fit. I bought adidas terrestrial swift 2 approach shoes. And they are everything one could look for in a disc golf shoe. Super comfy and light. But yours on. Don’t look like they have good support when you twist… great review. But I’m living with my awesome adidas. 🙂

  9. I love the review! I recently got myself a pair of Adidas trailrunners and I like them, but I’ve been keeping my eyes on these. I think I’ll fully commit to Idio in their gen 2 when they’ve used all of the feedback that everyone has been giving with this first wave. I feel like that will be the perfect disc golf shoe whenever that day comes!

  10. Hey Molt – you need to update your discount code in the description … it still says Q1

  11. I bought a pair of Altama Maritime boots a couple months ago (the mids) because I do like that high top feel with more ankle support. A lot of the courses I play are in the woods and I've rolled my ankles wearing low top shoes. These boots are advertised as military tactical boots, but are super light weight, waterproof, and comfortable for disc golfing. If you like the high and tight ankle support, I'd highly recommend.

  12. I like the honest review and that bit about the structure should be helpful to many. These look pretty good, I almost exclusively wear Keen shoes and love their toe guard(very similar to these). Try a pair of those as well. I think they'd be around the same and maybe be more usable as all around walking about shoes too. I have 3 pair a black slip on(Brixton), brown slip on and gray sandal. I wear them to work(where I walk about .7 miles to a from work each day. I love them for disc golf too, especially the sandal type for summer play so my feet dont get too hot. Only downside on the sandals is tall grass on one of my courses.

  13. I really need to know how comfortable they are compared to Hoka. I wear Hoka Speedgoats and have been for 2 years. That is my biggest concern with getting these shoes. I have adidas and they kill my feet.

  14. I'm a bit disappointed that I don't have mine yet. They really shouldn't have put a "march" date on it back in November! Going on 1/3 of a year late is disappointing–to me.. I get there is setbacks, but that should have been put into the initial estimate, imo…

  15. Thanks for the review and being honest about the sole separation issue. That is a deal breaker for me. Thay can say all they want about it only being an issue with this run, I don't believe them.
