Footjoy Fuel Golf Shoe Review.

What I Think.

2021 was hyperflex 2022 it is the Fuel, this is the new shoe from Footjoy that has been marketed both online and on tour. Retailing at £125 it is a price point below the ProSL, however there are similarities. The outsole has the same dimple patterns as the ProSL, however with slightly fewer at 114 on each shoe. In the middle of the outsole we have this new ‘stability bridge’ which is suppose to give extra support and control. Realistically is this going to change your game? No, but is a nice feature.

The shoe has a very sporty and trendy look, this is clearly to compete for the younger golfer who would buy Nike Air Max. The Air Max is a much better looking shoe however the performance of the Fuel is so much better, plus according to my scales it weighs just 350 grams which is very light.

The outsole is constructed with Stratolite foam, you would of seen the Stratofoam on the Stratos golf shoe. This foam is similar but as the name suggests lighter for ultimate comfort. Inside the shoe, the cushioning is very soft, again adding to the comfort.

My negative for this shoe is priced at £125 it is not leather and synthetic, whenever I see the word synthetic mentioned it worries me about the quality and waterproof capabilities.

Overall at £125 it is not in the same league as a ProSL, however it is a league above the Superlites XP. This is exactly the level Footjoy are after from a price point point of view. I would certainly wear these above the Superlites, however for an extra £25 it is still hard to beat the ProSL.

  1. Thank you for the review. There aren’t many reviews out there, yet. I’m new to golf and trying to navigate clubs, shoes and accessories is exhausting lol. I decided to drop a subscribe as well. Keep up the good work!

  2. I had to go a size down in this shoe(10) and go for the wide size. I wear a size 11 in Adidas.

  3. I just tried on a million different shoes at my local golf shop today. Even though my wife works for on of the top golf brands and I can get 60% off the brands that they own, I decided to pay full price for a pair of these shoes. I chose the lace up over the Boa system as they felt more comfortable. I usually play early mornings in wet conditions and typically use spiked shoes for more stability with leather uppers for waterproofing. My previous shoes of choice were the Nike Lunar Controls from years past. This will be my first pair of spikeless shoes and I’m very excited to wear them. Thanks for the review. Oh, I should mention I had to go a full size down for these footjoys.
