WORLD RECORD !!! Carter did it and it was so sick … with a 624’ 11” bomb of his 157g Westside Discs VIP Air King ⚔️! Breaking the current U13 World Record for distance by 47’, set back in 2008 by the long distance master himself, Dave Wiggins Jr. The winds were a little lower then Carter had hoped, but apparently the 14 mph wind was more than enough, lol.
We couldn’t be more proud of our little man!!! Carter never ceases to amaze us 🤷. Becoming the 2019 MJ12 PDGA Long Drive World Champion fueled a fire deep within this kid. It wasn’t too long after that he set his sights on the U13 Distance World Record. When Carter puts his mind to something he has an uncanny ability to envision what it takes to accomplish his goals, whether it’s disc golf, baseball, cross country or his school work. Congratulations “Megatron” … you can check this one of your list 🥇 !!!
Carter spent countess hours training to prepare, even throwing so late into the evening that we could barely see his drives. He even endured several 4 hour long round trips to different parts of Washington just so he could practice in the wind. One of his practice sessions even made it on sports center, hahaha. He couldn’t have done this without the absolutely incredible coaching of Dion Arlyn, the 2010 WFDF World Long Distance Champion. Thank you Dion for taking the time to share your knowledge as a great sensei does for his student.
There were so many other people involved in this record that we have to thank. First off … Matt V and Sean A for making the four hour round trip through the mountains in order to not only be witnesses, but to also support Carter in this moment and in the end celebrate with him! Huge shoutout to DD teammate Jason Oxen and 208 Discs for the contribution towards Carter’s effort … we were truly blown away by your graciousness. Jeremy Rusco for providing an absolutely amazing support structure for Juniors within Dynamic Discs. Eric McCabe, Danny and Anthony for answering countless questions, you guys rock.
