100 Yard Golf Shot | Hack to Consistently Hit the Green

Missing the green from 100 yards can be very frustrating. We get it.

You might think something in your swing is creating those inconsistent results, but what if it’s simply the target and distance you’re trying to hit?

In this episode of Data Driven, we use data from millions of golf shots hit by golfers of different ability levels to help you better understand where you should aim and how to pick the right club that will allow you to consistently hit the green from 100 yards out more often.

Give this video a watch to pick up a simple target-picking hack to make your next 100-yard golf shot a hit green.

  1. Excellent video. And the biggest mistake 70's players make is trying to bust a wedge, I'm guilty of it. So my 54 is 105, but the shot you described up hill with a false front, only needs a puff of wind and you're short. I prefer now to smooth a gap wedge in on a lot of shots like this one.

  2. Great video ! I’m using a shot tracker this year I am shocked at how my approach shots are 65% short of the target! I have no idea why I’m so afraid of being long but using the 6 yard average opened my eyes on how to strategize my approach shots. Well done gents!

  3. Do 90’s shooters actually know they’re shot pattern? I’m a 10.3 and I know mine when I hit it good from 100(mostly straight) but my less than good shots run the gamut. I play regularly with 90s guys and they’re consistently inconsistent.

  4. I’m scratch, and I agree. I play with one guy that’s literally short of the green at least 95% of the time. It blows my mind. He’s literally playing for the furthest he can hit that club, with a perfect strike. I take pin location into consideration…. If the pin is tucked front edge, and I’m in between clubs, I’ll play the longer club, to not leave myself an impossible up n down. Same with tucked pins, left or right. Maybe aim center of the green, and softly shape it towards the stick. I do this with driver too… If there’s a pond up the entire right side of the hole, I’ll aim left edge of the fairway(or even the rough), and purposely play a fade. Aim to safe spots people. Your scores will thank you for it. lol. But I agree…. Striking the ball is #1. Then a predictable ball flight. Then course management.
