I am Tom Saguto, PGA Member and founder of SagutoGolf. Thank you for visiting my instructional page where you can find how to get on the fast track to improving your golfing abilities. Whether you are a seasoned golfing veteran looking for a quick swing tune-up after an on-course emergency, or a beginner just looking to get the most out of your golfing experience, I am here to help you achieve your golfing goals.

My mission as your swing doctor is simple, to help you maximize your enjoyment in game of golf. Because, let’s face it, golf is a hard game.

My philosophy is wholly based on the student having a fun, meaningful experience in a frustrating and complicated game where potential lifelong golfers either quit because it is too difficult or that they experience some form of swing-related pain or discomfort. I mitigate these problems by focusing entirely on the student’s needs and goals while teaching a golf swing method that ultimately takes stress off of the common pain areas of the swing.

  1. Tom, looking at your grip, I would say you have a long lead hand thumb. I was always taught to have a short thumb. Any thoughts?

  2. Ok I tried this just a few times and could feel what I should be feeling while swinging the club.. as you bring the club down the wall and hold that fold your hips and no choice but to go forward forward forward!!!! Wow saguto you might have just fixed everything with one video! Thank you

  3. I love you, Tom. You’re the man but I wish you had the same goofy character in your comments like you do in your videos. Lol

  4. Hi Tom,

I've followed your S & T advice for about a week now and it's already feeling pure.

My question / thoughts to you is as follows…

Most golfers move their head laterally to their trail side during the backswing and this is something I've learned to not do with S & T (head much more steady).

However, when you say the goal is to get the feeling like the left shoulder is moving towards the ground, is there merit in allowing your head to move slightly downwards or even tilted in the backswing (but not laterally)? Would this allow for a more squatted position at the top of the backswing which could potentially allow a more leveraged position to then drive through the ball in the downswing?

    I hope this makes sense..

I play a lot of tennis and during my service motion, I find a lot of benefit in a more squatted position before I hit a serve.. I'm wondering if there is a parallel between the sports and the athletic positions?

Thanks for another top video Tom! 👏 💪

  5. The trail elbow can be consciously held bent in the down swing, but should not be consciously straightened — this is accomplished by centrifugal force, not only that, trying to time it and straighten it consciously will lead to weaker shots.

  6. My helping thought in the ds which results in KFC shots is bringing the butt end of the shaft into the ball before the head, for as long as possible until centrifugal force over powers my lag and… BAM

  7. I watched your video and I was making practice swings trying to get the right sequencing when I had a thought that this is how a baseball hitter approaches the ball swinging and turning with the wrists still cocked and even though the major power is the wrists releasing you never really feel like you are using your wrist muscles. Then I tried something that really works for me, practice making full motion baseball check swings where you take it back shift to your left come down and just stop before the ball where you cant release your wrists or it will be called a strike, this puts you in the exact pre impact position dynamically where you are coming down shifting left and even starting to clear your hips. You are doing everything except releasing your wrist or the club, its kind of like a more dynamic pump drill. If you do 3 full motion check swings and then on the fourth one you just swing thru you can really feel the speed and natural timing of swinging thru the ball. Its also like in baseball where the catcher can put his glove right behind the hitter and the hitter won't hit the glove if he is swinging correctly.

  8. Nice drill Tom!!!….To be honest, this IS the very first time I saw this kinda wall drill for the lag. I have been learning lagging for a long time and this might be the best drill so far. It feels like once I got the enough lag, the rest stuff like ball-turf and follow-thru are just happening automatically. GOOD JOB!

  9. Another great vid Tom just wanted to say thanks for all your tips since I’ve been watching a couple months ago my handicap has dropped from 26 to 18 my pals all comment on how well I’m striking the ball 🏌🏼‍♂️

  10. Hi again Tom. Been working on trail shoulder position at impact with some success to get that KFC crispy contact. This drill just might be just the "feel" I need to get it right with more power and consistency.
