  1. I have stopped watching the money hungry (both sides) tour. It has become boring. Monahan is a dictator and maybe violating antitrust laws. Tiger and all the rest of the players are greedy. Just an opinion:everyon has one.

  2. The tour needs to guarantee a base salary for every player. Once a player reaches that number in tournament winnings he starts earning above and beyond based on tournament finishes. What is the number for the base? Maybe $250k, maybe look at last years money list and set the base at whatever the 50% line was? I don’t know what the number should be but the system seems pretty obvious.

  3. Why increase the purses now? It's because the PGA Tour is entering a new TV deal starting next year that will bring in $300M of additional revenue annually, revenue that they haven't had through 2022. I would possibly support a stipend for players who play the minimum 15 events though.

The problem is that regardless of the money, the PGA Tour can't compete with the money the Saudi PIF can put behind LIV. They don't need money in to equal money out like the PGA Tour does.

The comparison between NFL and PGA compensation is apples to oranges since the NFL is a much larger market. It's interesting to note, however, that Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, and Tiger Woods have all made more money than any NFL player ever has. There's sure been athletes that have been paid more on an annual basis, but golfers have longer careers. The fact that only Michael Jordan has made more than those three as an athlete goes to show that there's plenty of money to be made on the PGA Tour, but you have to earn it.

  4. Nothing about excess commercials vs commercial free LIV tour. PGA becoming commercial TV interrupted to broadcast a few golf shots

  5. Tiger moves the golf needle beyond the golf world. Imagine, he plays the PNC Father Son – a hit n’ giggle, as he called it, and it drew higher TV ratings than the Open last year. That’s why he’s still important. He’s a shell of his former self from a playing ability standpoint. He’s as big as ever when it comes to his ability to get people to tune in – that’s as solidly fact as is his decline as a player.

  6. Not sure why people think something needs to be done here except for the PGA to stop banning players from returning. Let the market/business and economics play out and see where it goes.

  7. There’s not a PGA Tour Member who is struggling to pay for his hotel rooms or his plane tickets. As a member of the PGA Tour, money flows into your pockets, because you are a member. Equipment deals aren’t for just for free clubs, Apparel deals aren’t just for free polos and shoes. Their playing expenses are covered from day one, simply because of their membership. Do I think the tour could or should pay for hotels and flights? Absolutely. It represents such a small expense, that it ought to be a no-brainer. Most tour players aren’t staying at the local Marriott. They’re renting homes for tournament week. Would a $200 a night stipend matter? And every tour pro (heck, every business person) essentially ends up flying commercial for free anyway – I can’t remember the last time I actually paid for a flight. Credit card points take care of it, and that’s based on expenses that pass through a small but successful business that’s probably similar in scope to a PGA Touring pro. These things should be fixed, but these are not issues plaguing the tour, and I’m almost certain this was not on the Tiger meeting agenda.

  8. LIV Golf is an exhibition not a golf tournament. All this PGA Tour hate is so unnecessary and ridiculous. Look at the rookies on the PGA tour that bust their ass week in and week out in real tournaments. Just stop this.

  9. Players better demand taking back the Tour.
Players better get control of the tour and let players & there agents run the tour & get rid of the Board + Commish.

  10. It is easy for millionaires to chastise those who leave in order to make more money. How many potentially great golfers have gone by the wayside simply because they could not scratch out a living at golf? The PGA needs to give those who qualify for their tournaments guaranteed money or more players will leave for LIV. From here on out the PGA Championship will be a diluted tournament as they are blocking some of the best players in the world from playing in it for spite. Grow up Monahan.

  11. Why should any PGA players care if other golfers are wanting to treated like all other sports are configured. They now get contracts like every player that’s in the NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB.

  12. And most have to play until they’re 65 years old if they aren’t one of the elite golfers with endorsements. So now Liv golfers can have a 20 year career and retire instead of the PGA making money off your NIL for 40+ years. They’ll show all your greatest moments and highlights all night long on the golf channel without ever needing to compensate said players ever. It’s a monopoly!

  13. It is not a race to fill the pocket books, but hearts. Return to a Bobby Jones way, for love of the game. The titles are what make the PGA the best, not the cash.

  14. Did you overlook the point that the Pga Tour is a nonprofit and their charitable giving is why they’re allowed to operate that way

  15. Tiger can’t safe something that’s Dead.

Fire Jay M that a start to try and save the PGA. Tiger ain’t the answer, letting players play where and when they want is a good start. Help pay players that qualify appearance money.

  16. Tiger has an agenda, win more majors than Jack Nicklaus. Tiger is not going to win again. He is not even making the cuts.
