John Daly Swing Trigger (STOMP And Compress For Powerful Sequence)

Learn the John Daly swing trigger that led to one of the most powerful downswing sequences we’ve ever seen! JD uses a massive wind up in his backswing with a lead heel raise to stretch the system followed by a stomp and compress move (which we discuss in this video) to initiate his downswing. Like Jack Nicklaus and many of the greats, this footwork move helped John Daly create amazing timing and sequence in his golf swing. Not to mention superb power. I hope you enjoy this video!

  1. My recollection is that JD started playing with full size clubs as a young guy. The extra weight and length gave him his signature swing . I met him at a clinic in Melbourne once and he signed a picture for me. Awesome guy and a super athlete.

  2. Love ya, Milo, and the great content you put on your channel! 👊👊. But, John Daly as the most talented golfer of all-time? Come on now. My jaw dropped in disbelief when you made that comment.

  3. Henry recommended me to swing like John Daly – I couldn’t make it work, my backswing was too flat. I’m glad Milo corrected it in an online lesson.

  4. Awesome golfer, John Daly! What people fail to appreciate is his short game. Ask other pros that know him and have played with him and they will tell you he has the best pair of hands in the game, they are more impressed with his short game than his gargantuan drives!

  5. Snead talked about the rhythm of the golf swing being a Waltz. He would hum Strauss’s Blue Danube when his rhythm got out of sorts.

  6. I didn't realize how young you two were until watching you explaining the "unique," golf swing and footwork of Mr. Daly. 😂 Guys, every poor kid that learned to play golf on their own swung exactly like Big John before the mid-1980's. Clubs designed and weighted specifically for children hadn't been invented yet. Poor Kids without instruction learned with cut down Men's Super Stiff Steel Shafts Tiny Headed Muscle Back Irons and Persimmon or Composite Wooden Heads. The advent of Heavy Steel Headed Woods with even heavier steel shafts made it even worse! Back then clubs that weighed a Ton were thought to aid in Hitting for Distance somehow? 😕 Mr. Charlie Sifford, Mr. Hogan, Mr. Sneed, Mr. Casper, Mr. Byron Nelson, Mr. Retief Goosen way in South Africa and yes Mr. Bubba Watson (poor)…everybody started out swinging like that. The only thing Unique about Mr. Daly is his Miraculous Longevity, Extraordinary Suppleness at his current weight and his Damn Legendary Stubbornness! Don't get me wrong, Big John is a really nice man and I found him to be interestingly Introspective, Worldly and Intelligent. Those facts become immediately apparent on the rare occasions when he is Cold Sober. Everytime he played the Shell Houston Open where I was a Caddie he was always good to me. By the way, Mr. Nichols is the 1st Great American Golfer in the History of the Game who was a Prestigious Country Club Member from Birth. His Daddy owned a String of Pharmacies throughout Ohio. Every other American Hall of Famer before him learned the game from Men of African Descent in the Caddy Yard. For Example, a lot of Mr. Arnold Palmer's 👑 life long friends were African American for that very reason. The more you know the more you grow.

  7. The reason JD had an " overswing " was because when he was a junior he used his dads clubs , his dad wanted to get him some junior clubs but John was having none of that , he kept on using his dads.
What a lot of people don't realise about JD is he was not just a one trick pony , he had great touch around the greens.

  8. Great video! I heard a story where JD said to Tiger imagine if I had your talent and Tiger replied back, imagine if I had yours!
