  1. That was fair advice. For a range finder, I like the Golf Pad phone app. It's free, but also has additional features for $20/year. I've found that it's just about as accurate as the dedicated gps watches and other hand held devices my golf league buddies use. Also, don't be afraid to let family and friends know that you like to golf. When it is gift giving time, you might score some things that you might not buy for yourself; greens fee gift card, golf balls, new putter, wedge set, golf bag or shoes, rain gear, a range finder, etc.
