  1. Excellent stuff Simon. I can relate to gunning it past the hole. 'Cursing Keith' (who is an excellent putter) Quote "I could shove the putter up me arse and still putt better than you Howard!" despairs when I follow a nine foot past the hole putt, with a 3 foot short follow-up.

  2. I don't get how hitting it past is worse than short, at least if you get it past the hole you have a read for the comebacker. Especially on downhill putts getting it past makes sense as you would rather be going back up the hill for par 🤷‍♂️

  3. Wadda pleasant chap. I actually did a fist pump when he drained the 15 footer on 9. Wadda man

  4. I love the video thanks. I want to discuss this, isn't it better to be long than short? If you're short you have no shot at the ball actually going in but long you do. That's what I thought but I've only been playing for 3 months lol

  5. @golfsidekick Matt…bro…get this guy to narrate any book and it will cure the world of insomnia! Such a smooth, comforting, lullaby type voice! Smooth as silk! Great work Simon!!

  6. I love that "Golf Sidekick" is becoming a mantra, not just a single person. Matt, your channel has made me a better person on and off the course, playa.

  7. Thanks Hairy nice video. At 12:23 you said play the shot you can play and play it well. Don’t play the shot you can’t play.
I need this reminder constantly. Don’t know how many times I hit a shot. Then say to myself why did even try that.
Learning the way of the Playa slowly I won’t give up on it. I must commit to the process fully. Course Management is a big hurtle for me.
Thanks again for the video hope to see you again.

  8. Loving your recent upload frequency. Keep it up! Also loving the 2-3 minute tutorials. Waddaplaya!

  9. Had the pleasure of playing with Simon last year and he knows how to score well and get the handicap down. His channel is quality. Good golf, great courses and no BS. Check him out!

  10. Nice, Simon! I'll have to check out your channel. Your distances and hcp are almost precisely the same as mine. I could do with a bit more of your good attitude, though!

  11. Aren't we all guilty of trying to pull off shots we don't have a chance in heck of making because we never practice them. Like Simon says (😀) play your own game and within your own limitations.

  13. Well in, Simon. Big ups the GL. Lilley Brook looking fresh. But where's your Whaddaplaya shirt? I know you've got one!

  14. I've probably done the opposite to many and started watching golfsidekick because Simon mentions him often in his videos. Good video as always, Lily Brook is looking good.

  15. The short game is the game within the game. I didn’t miss a fairway today w 3 wood. used driver twice made only 2 doubles of the day.

  16. I would say though, one advantage of going past the hole instead of leaving it short/dying it in is that you get to see what the putt does. If you leave your 45 footer 6-7ft short, you don't know how much break is left. Obviously blowing it 15ft by isn't great but I'll take 6-7 past than 6-7 short.

  17. Merch arrived today, me and my friend gonna be looking hella clean on the course, love it!

  18. I love the finish. It feels like a birdie when you save the 2 putt from distance.

  19. Ty! Watching this the night before playing in my first AM tournament at age 66. Loved your course and shot analysis.

  20. Hope this blows up his channel, love watching him play golf. Never understand why his channel and Alex evans golf don’t have 100k plus especially when some of the most boring channels do.

  21. Very interesting! Love that he's sharing his thinking and course management. I always felt leaving putts short is bad cause I never had a chance but he gives me more to. Think about… now I'm going to be OK with it as long as it's close enough to get it in. Thank you for sharing!
