  1. Putting is such a personal aspect of the game. So many different putters to choose from, so many grips to look at. It's just a matter of finding what works for you.

  2. When I putt the ball sets off exactly on the line that I pick if I could read greens properly it would be great but nobody’s perfect 😁.

  3. On long putts I always do a couple of practice strokes. On shorter (15ft and in) I usually focus on getting my putter set up, look at the hole, then go.

  4. Interesting how long Cam looks at the hole before he pulls the trigger.
He is on record as saying that he likes to bring his eyes back from the hole at the speed he feels is right to hole the putt.

  5. I'm convinced putting mostly happens between the ears. If your confident you can make it technique almost becomes secondary. Always enjoy your videos Ali! Thanks

  6. Best putting tip for me came from coach Mike Shannon, who says each golfer has one ideal ball position that allows them to aim correctly. I was missing putts left (as you were, Ali, in the video) and simply moving the ball about an inch back in my stance (farther away from the hole) has made a big difference. It might not work next time, but… that's golf!

  7. Exactly what ive relized while practicing putting Read up down. Read side to side. Determine how many cups left right and how many feet long short. Place ball w logo at cups left right. And stroke for the dostance only

  8. Your Loft and Lie is making you not correctly Line the Putter

You Putt with Your Shoulder Joints not Your Hands or Forearms for correct speed

Cameron has it Correct. You do not need practice strokes in that it is your eye vision that gives you speed and line if your Putter is Fitted for You personally

    Cameron is the Best

  9. It's just gonna be hundreds of hours of practice….. I'm practicing putting a lot lately and it's definitely making a difference. It's not that thrilling to practice but you're definitely more confident with it when you play.

  10. Have you noticed that Smith sets up with his eyes very much inside the ball? This is neither good nor bad because what is important is how you see the line. Is the line you see standing over the putt, actually lined up down your chosen line. Is perception the same as reality? Now, you have missed every putt to the left. I would suggest that you may be standing too close to the ball.

  11. He doesn't even use the line on the ball either. But for his technique to work he needs to get the green speeds visualised which means a lot of pre round practice

  12. putting is absolutely a individual preference , but i dont care what anybody says cameron smith is the best putter ive ever seen

  13. What exactly does putting your your hand on your leg do while setting up. I sink 12 footers all day long just stepping up and wacking it. It's those quick 2 ft. Puts that kick my ass.

  14. “Putt a good stroke on it” – Cam. All the work is done during setup and green reading. Just hit the thing frees you up to hole putts. Some days they go in. Some days they dont

  15. This has been quite a big topic this week, it got me to thinking this.

How many times do you take one or two practice swings, think to yourself "that's to much", then you hit the putt and it comes up short.
Go with your first sense, its usually pretty damn good.

  16. When you are standing over the ball you have to believe the ball is gong into the hole before you strike the putt, if you don't it won't, how you get to that mental state is up to you. And you have to accaccelerate the putter through the ball, no exceptions.

  17. One thing I’ve noticed watching others is: when you take that one last look at the hole 🕳 after setting up, often times that move (of turning your head) OPENS your SHOULDERS. I now make sure to not move my shoulders (keep them square) when I turn my head to look at the hole.

Even Cameron Smith focuses on SETUP, and making sure feet, knees, hips AND shoulders are square. ☝🏻
