  1. Hi Mark ,Paul here , I hear where your coming from . I use the WILSON DUO GOLF BALL , these are great for my WILSON D9 IRONS AND MAVRIK DRIVER .It maybe me but I do not tend to lose them , well I've had one 20 consecutive rounds retired that one 12 rounds then lost it. Maybe though I should not carry a 52° wedge as it is a hit one miss one so I tend to chip with PW or 5 iron , BUNKERS IS 30% OUT but I avoid them mostly .keep these coming .
    P.S.
I am no doing these to win things if that was possible, well like the putter you were giving away it might be lighter or heavier than what I use so is no good to me .

  2. Hi Mark to to add ,when you give things away would it not be better to offer lessons , well lessons fit anyone clubs might not .
    Paul

  3. Hi Mark Paul again like this idea . I carry MAVRIK driver, a TAYLORMADE 200 series, 5 wood 4 to SW WILSON SPEED SLOTS IRONS , 52° WEDGE that hit and miss and TAYLORMADE REDLINE PUTTER . I did carry a COBRA 3WOOD OFFSET RED but although I hit it sweet 189 yards is less than 4 iron and 5 wood . Any ideas as I prefer long irons to rescue clubs
    Paul

  4. couldn't agree more, so often "ego" get the better of ourselves … golfer tends to overestimate their skills 😁😁😁

  5. I don't understand the philosophy of taking out short game related clubs in order to add clubs designed to go over 180 yards, especially coming from someone who boasts about the benefits of a chipper. Short game is among the easiest ways for golfers to lower their scores. Frankly, most players would benefit from laying up to a preferred from outside 180 yards. At most courses, the number of shots hit from outside 180 yards is small and at all courses golfers will hit more shots from inside 120 yards than from outside 180 yards. If someone finds themself hitting shots from outside 180 yards into par 4s frequently, they likely need to move up a tee.

  6. I adjusted my Driver loft from 10.5° to 12° recently because I take off so much loft. I've seen a noticeable difference in my driving since and it closes the face more which I need

  7. I NEVER update clubs just to update them. If I change clubs, it's because I'm changing some expectation. I went to the TSi3 to cut down on spin. Then I switched to a Callaway because I wanted to go to a shorter shaft (with a club built around it). But I went to single-length irons 6 years ago and I've changed them only once–when Wishon brought out his 2nd-gen clubs. But I did that only because I also wanted to switch to graphite shafts. And so on. About the only club I update periodically is the LW, and that's to get new grooves and faces.

  8. Great video Mark and it got me contemplating my own bag make up, especially your comment re “ego”. I’m off a handicap of 10 and whilst driving is ok, tends to be the consistency of iron shots that hurt my score. I’ve watched some recent reviews of Wilson Launchpad 2 & Cleveland Halo XL irons, and wondering if I should give them a go. Would appreciate your thoughts? Thanks

  9. Mark, I'm 67 years old and learning golf all over again after 40 years away. Starting with basics, grip, stance, body rotation and swing. Enjoying reading and watching about the dofferent club options. I have a hand me down st of Cleveland Quad pros that are about 20 years old.I've bought a demo Touredge Hot Launch 7 iron to try. Obviously I'll be looking at game improvememt/super game improvement clubs with graphite shafts. Cleveland launcher halo? touredge hot launch? ?????. Love your videos. Insightful and practical.

  10. I’m a 3.5 handicap and I carry p-7 hogan apex plus and 7-4 Sub70 699pros. I’m 5’6” and the gap is 145-153 hogan 7 and 155-160 Sub70 7 iron. I carry a low bounce 50 degree that I can open and a 56 that I practice all shots with. Just dropped the 2 hybrid for a 5 wood and pound a 285 driver. It’s all about filling the gaps.

  11. Great video. Some of the manufacturers marketing is very subtle and down to lack of regulation. The R&A should insist that a 3 iron, per se, is 21 degrees and that shaft length is the only variable.
As a footnote and to emphasise Mark’s points, I carry 3 wood HL at 16.5 degrees and 3 hybrid at 18 degrees which would suggest too close a grouping, however the flights are entirely different despite having the same ventus shaft. The higher lofted 3 hybrid flights far lower and penetrates the wind far better.

  12. Completely unrelated to the video Mark, but could we have a Bridgestone ball review please??? On course and dry numbers 👍🏻

  13. Driver, 2 and 4 hybrid, 6-9, PW, SW, LW. In face I rarely use the 2 hybrid. I will occasionally use it off the tee when I am striking the ball well and need the additional distance over a 4 hybrid. The hign bounce SW and low bounce LW are specialty clubs for bunker and flop shots only depending on type of lie. I used to keep the 3-5 irons in the bag but have removed it due to my club head speed slowing down with age

  14. I took my 2 iron hi fli out three years ago, last year the 4 iron hot metal pro and after my last round and with help from this video, the 5 iron goes today. My 6 iron and 5 just gap as different anymore. Your comments about the hybrid alternative are spot on for me. Thanks Mark!

  15. Totally agree! Take the ego out of the bag and use the equipment that lowers the score!

  16. Good Video!! And so True. I game old Link Solution Hybrid irons an hit some amazing shoots for a 12 hcper!

  17. In my fitting for longer clubs, I couldn't get a fairway wood to not fly too high unless we went to 13° = too big of a gap and too close to my driver numbers.

Best combo ended up being 3 Srixon H85s in 16, 19, and 22. Had to be a bit quirky to get the best for me.

  18. Great video. Totally resonate with strengthening up the long end of the bag and came to that realisation a while ago after accepting my point of diminishing distance returns after the 6iron (28 degrees). I play 16.5 deg 4 wood, 21 degree 7 wood, 23 deg hybrid, 24 degree hollow iron replacement iron (similar characteristics to that of the srixon z4 6iron replacement) then go to my set 28 degree 6iron. I sometimes swap my 7wood for a 19deg hybrid depending on the conditions but i really favour the 7 wood as it's awesome at stopping on greens from 175m-190m approaches when playing the longer tees. On short courses I can swap out the 4w/7w combo for an 18deg 5w and get the same versatility from all lies and off the tee.

  19. I have not watched a video of you other then a playing against other golfers. I love this content. Just subscribed.

  20. Do you hit it real short? I hit 6 iron 215 and have wedges in all the time so I have 4 wedges and have a 4 iron cuz it goes 245-50 in the air, but I do have a 7 wood but that’s just for hitting into longer par 5’s or really long par 3’s…

  21. Simply can’t agree with the 180-220 yards point. Most par 4s at an average club are 380-400 yards, probably shorter. After a decent drive that leave somewhere in the region of a short to mid iron. Therefore you have to have options at the lower end of the bag.

Would be keen to see how much your scores have improved by implementing these changes because I highly doubt you’re shooting lower.

  22. I disagree with strengthening your longer clubs. What’s a good shot with a 3 or 4 iron? Maybe 25-30 feet? That’s a 2 putt 90% of the time. Improve that by 5 or 10 feet abc you’re still going to 2 putt 88%of the time.

With wedges a good result is going to leave you a makeable 1 putt. If you can dial in your wedge distances, you’ll lower your score and improve your putting. More wedges will cover more distances where you really have a chance to get it close and make some birdies. The difference between a 6 footer and a gimme is around 30% or more.

  23. I have taken out 5/6 irons and replaced them with 9/7/5 woods to cover everything from 170-220yds. I can take them off the tee or fairway or short rough with confidence

  24. Totally agree on the top end of the bag. I've had a major mistake there for ages… hated my 5-wood, irons stopped at 5, had a massive gap. Was having to try and crush 5 iron everywhere off tees when driver couldn't be used. Just didn't work. Added in a 4 iron and 3 hybrid – feel so much less stressed now, it makes he choices much easier about shot. Just need to keep working on getting better!

  25. 1 I'm definitely going to use the same ball from now on. 2 I'm absolutely going to look at the top end of my bag. I think not getting a putter you are comfortable with helps

  26. Great call on the ego of what’s in the bag. I keep that in check by keeping mental score of new clubs I’ve beat in a rounds.

For ex, if a friend has new PXGs, then I’ll think oh, I’ve beat a player with those clubs. Or, I’ve been wanting to beat a player with those clubs.

It keeps my focus where it belongs, on my game, not the tools of my game.
