Gapping Golf Clubs At The Top End of Your Bag

Golf club gap analysis is super important to improving your golf game and creating consistency. Going with the standard 3 Wood, 5 Wood setup might not be the best fit for your golf game…

In this video, we discuss what we have done individually to gap the golf clubs in the top end of our bag (the longer clubs). We have done a lot of gap testing recently, and have switched up a lot of golf clubs in our bags.

We want to share with you the clubs we have gone through and tested in order to get where our bags are today.

We also have a video about gapping the bottom of your golf bag (wedges) that you can watch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAZ2HbIBwxY

  1. for punching a low, long roll in the fairway and out of the woods,, that cobra utility iron looks great..what do you suggest, a 2 or 3 iron?

  2. Thanks for the video I am currently playing around with my top end of my bag. My driver is 10.5 degrees and my 3 wood is 15 degrees. My irons set of Ping i3 o-size are 3-PW with the 3 iron being at 20.5. I have bought a few Cobra baffler hybrids in 22 and 25 degrees and a 2 iron in 19 degrees, I hit my 3 and 4 irons pretty good and also to my surprise I hit the 2 iron well, but keep hitting the hybrids in a duck hook to the right. My swing speed has increased as I am playing more golf and the hybrids are in a Senior flex so that could also be the problem. I recently picked up a Reg flex Nike VRS Hybrid in 24 degrees so I will give that a try. Maybe down the road a 7 wood could be something to try.

On a side note you guys every play Spanish Oaks?

  3. This is a great video thank you for putting it together.. I have been dealt with a health hurdle I've reworked my bag for.. had to drop the stiff flex for a regular flex complete bag. ( wife is very patient) bought a set of sim max irons starting 5i-pw.. I can hit the 5 well 50/50.. so I tried hybrids and hit them ok but at times the distance was all over the place. So I dropped those clubs and started the high lofted fairway kick.. bought a ping 5 wood to go with callaway rouge 3 wood.. off the deck these go simular distance. But the 3 wood was the ticket off the tee when driver was being bad..for my anniversary the wife bought me a epic 7 wood.. loved it so much that I decided to go all in.. upgraded the 3 wood for a mavrik max 3 wood which will still be mainly used for tee balls.. also bought a mavrik max heavenwood and just to see if the 5 and 6 irons could go away lofted up the epic flash to 23 degrees and bought a mavrik max 11 wood.. my body says no swing hard anymore so I've read up and watched videos like this and am using tech to my advantage… now I can sub a 3 with the 5 or the 5 and HW if the course requires a different approach..

    Thanks again for the video

  4. Most hybrids these days are draw biased, I believe that is the reason why you hook the ball with the hybrid.
