Right arm is the power ARM! Try this HEAD COVER drill! I can’t wait for The Open. Who’s going?
Great drill Alex !
Excellent as usual .

I wish I could get 1 on 1 lessons with you. I really want my golf to improve but I struggle way too much with slicing……
Exactly what i am doing…. With the ball going left 😂😤😤
Alex, you’ve been spot on and on 🔥 with your drill suggestions lately! 🙌🏾
If you are reading this, never ever give up. We will succeed. I'm cheering for you!
Have a great day! 🖤
Great advice
Is the palm not facing the sky? It’s the back of your hand to the ground? Or at least it looks like that?
Right palm to the ground on downswing? No way! I swing the club with the left side of my body the leading side. Before you can use the right hand as you suggest you better have a good sense of what the left side does first.
Hit 3 hybrid ,and 3 wood off tee on a short par 4 …both tee shots worked great after watching your video on hybrid and woods.thanks Alex
Awesome drill as always Alex. I have been having an issue with closing the face of my irons, the ball seems to always squeak out to the right with about a 5-15 yard fade. I have been trying to comprehend when instructors talk about twisting the screw driver in the back swing/ downswing to square the club face. Can you demonstrate when in the back swing or down swing should that move take place to help flush iron shots.
Thank you and stay awesome
Hi Alex. As a novice golfer complicated by the fact that I am a senior, I find your instructional videos quite helpful. They are focused and incremental, making it much easier for me to understand and apply. Keep them coming. Much appreciated. Joe A., Scituate, Massachusetts
Thank you!! Gonna take this to the range for my next few practice sessions to work on it
Tx!
I’ll give this a go fingers crossed 🤞
Awesome stuff, definitely taking this to the range. Can you do a putting video on how to get the correct roll instead of the jump start bobble roll ?
thanks AE … if I tried to shallow the club anywhere near that much, my right arm would break. I do lots of one handed swings ..both left and right when practicing.. haven't tried the driver yet. When we go to a target practice range .. like shooting darts .. I also practice hitting balls with my eyes shut (you know, line it up and then close your eyes for the swing) My friends hate it when I beat them at the games with my eyes closed.. I think it's hysterical.
One of your best Alex. Saved this one to keep working on it. Cheers
Great tip, I’m a big fan of Hogan. I have read his book The Five Lessons over and over. I appreciate the reminder about the right elbow leading the club and the drill you taught us. It’s just what I needed.
Alex you are the master of shorter form tip videos.
Thanks to you now it's maybe only 97% of golfers that don't know how to shallow the club. Lol
Nice drill make sure components of your arms and wrists and hands be in the correct spot all you Gotta do is bash them together and it looks like you’re going to hit some good shots
Out of the blue question, but he too, is British. Thoughts on Ernest Jones and his teachings??
So I got back into golf after about 25 years other than crushing some hard slices every now and again at the range for fun. Been watching your channel and it's really helped. One of the things I did to check my swing path was just give it some rips in the lawn while it was still a little tall before it needed cut. That gave me direct feedback of what the club head was doing and was able to get it on a better path without ever hitting a ball. That may be something your viewers could use because it definitely helped me get the right club path. After I got it straight off the tee to the target line but it would bite hard right, I filmed my swing. I'm sure you already know but my club head was open and I could see I wasn't rolling my wrist over. My follow through was pretty bad and the finish of my swing was non-existent. It wasn't until today I made a conscious effort to completely finish my swing. For me personally I feel I can't finish the swing correctly unless the wrist roll over. So instead of trying focus on rolling the wrist over and squaring the face in the heat of the downswing, I just focused on completely finishing the shot and not much else. 8 of the last ten went straight and when I went back a few hours later 20 of the 30 went straight. 5 or 6 were baby fades and slight cuts. The last few we don't need to talk about. That's never happened before. Maybe 5 out of thirty tops were fades, the rest were 2 fairways over. Either way, thanks the great content, it's really helped. Try the tall grass swing and see what you think. Between that and fully finishing the swing I I was able to get the club path in the right spot and the club face square. I bet your viewers would benefit too.
Luv the channel! How bout Trevino's method of taking the club outside, strongish grip, re-routing it inside and on plane. It works for me and helps my hip turn and weight into my back heel on backswing. Club going outside causes the opposite reaction to maintain balance, my hip turns back into my back heel. This swing "hack" was a total shocker to me. Works on all shots, feels great on wedges! Thoughts?
And arguably.
Awesome video, taking it to the range!
Brilliant video, having those check points of elbow & palm is such a helpful & practical way to describe the move – thanks – looking forward to trying this👍. Something I’m conscious of is I start the downswing too quickly I’m definitely more prone to an over the top move – more effort for less power = so irritating lol!
Great, going to try this
That trail elbow technique like described works with everything but driver for me. With driver my swing thought is like a a "T"ed up baseball. I'm set up further away from the ball and my arms are reaching for the ball at impact. With shoulders tilted back, trying to hit up on the ball from the inside, it fells like the club shaft is 10in too long.
Alex, can you tell me what is the best frame by frame video playback app for swing analysis?
I found using the channel lock golf swing for seniors addresses most problem areas you are highlighting.
The fixed ball of the back foot using the protocols for this type of swing is something that may be useful to some golfers.
Enjoyed the videos and tips

This shallowing method works great, so why was I still slicing the ball after executing the shallowing really well? After a lot of heart ache I found that I was deliberately pushing the face slightly to the right and unintentionally hitting the ball off the heel. I thought this was the correct way after listening to several instructors saying that pushing slightly to the right was correct.
What I discovered was that letting the face be pointing slightly right as part of the natural arc solved all my problems.
What are your feelings on this as I feel there will be a lot of us amateurs doing the same thing?
Regards, Jack Stewart.
well, in the early 90's, after hogan said he would give his secrets away, for a 6 figure sum, but then later reneged on his promise, when he wasn't offered the money he asked for, there was an article on his secret/s. and, jack burke said that hogan used the club as an extension of his right forearm. and, he is right. but, how he did this is the big secret. he nearly gave it away when he did the shell's wonderful world of golf vid, where he tells us to start down with the left hip; but, then says "the first thing to watch (for) is what starts first from the top of the swing", and begins to motion with his right arm. now this is a lot different to the left hip giving the right arm a "free ride down". and, the simple fact is that neither the right elbow or the right forearm start down. just the opposite, in fact. no one will ever work out just what it was that he did.
You kept saying palm to the ground while your right hand palm was facing the sky every time you said that. Your knuckles were facing the ground. Do British mean something different when they say palm?
In American English, a person hits the ball "farther" or stands farther away from the ball. Further is only used to refer to metaphorical distance.
If you can skip a flat rock on a pond, you're already doing this. Notice you didn't think about posture, 'backswing', positions, transition, head still, weight shift, angles, release, on and on. Yet somehow, seemingly magically in fact, you can do it. Warm up with a few throws, you can do it really well. Isn't that interesting? Oh wait, forgot we were thinking golf.
Hi Alex, I’ve been involved with golf for longer than you have been alive! That’s not how Mr Hogan shallowed the Club
Firstly it’s starts with Hogans set up, his hips are slightly opened to the target. That’s is not a misalignment rather He’s preparing to start the downswing with a opening of his hips, his belt buckle is facing the target without twisting his hips before the club starts down.
Check out his slow motion videos. Cheers
Shallowing shoukd just happen naturally
Thanks for great tip Alex I’ll be watching Open on the tellie. On bucket list for next year !
