  1. Two Questions:
How would you rate your grip on a scale of 1 to 10?
What are you doing to become a 10?

  2. Grip current 2. Trying to go extra strong now last few weeks.

Trying to make impact alignments with new grip work, without severely hooking it.

  3. Thank you Thank You Thank You! You cannot make too many GRIP videos. It is EVERYTHING to the foundation of a great swing.

  4. Mike on the grip videos can you have the camera be straight on? It’s so difficult to see the actual grip changes with the camera directly from behind. Thank you!

  5. Do you have a drill for swinging the club so that the arm does not rotate? I set up on my irons with the "hand extended grip" (the hand's position with tension on it as if a someone was pulling on the club), square the face, but still tend to rotate the hand/clubface during the swing that it still goes left. BTW, I use a very strong (first knuckle on top of the center line or even towards the back) and can hit a very nice draw (as long as my swing path is good).

  6. Holy crap this feels way easier I’ve been crushing the ball but pulling it because the club face is closed to ball at address. Am I supposed to open the face with my forearms at address to make it look open and use the bounce at address like you said before or turn the grip open within my hands at address? Thanks so much this is awesome stuff!

  7. It takes so much to be a teacher. Mostly passion. Which Mike has immensely.

I'm not sure if you try this much Mike, but it has worked wonders for groups I teach. Yes, haha, I said groups, just imagine.

I take ball, sticks, out of the equation for the first week. Most people drop out within a day or two and say "don't go to him, it's a waste of money".

THEN, the kicker. The ones with open minds and adaptive perspective, discover the land of milk and honey.

Key thing with no ball, no stick….I let them swing the club freely and develop a grip that allows them to hold onto the club and swing "FREELY".

Sometimes, going as basic as possible, can restart the brain. It was the one key decision I made a year or two ago when I was hitting in my basement during the winter. I got so aggravated that I just started swinging the club around, yelling "why the BLEEP can't I stay consistent day to day?!" That's when the scientist kicked in and I started taking controlled breaths, and just said F**k it and started swinging it like I do in hockey. Lightbulb moment for sure. I kept doing that, without any ball, just imagination of a target I wanted to hit with the club I had in hand. Won my division via tourney that following summer (last summer).

  8. When you do a grip video, can you go into right hand a bit more of how it’s supposed to be, like is the hand slightly rotated up ,so the v points to the right shoulder.

  9. Haha wow. What perfect timing! I've been experimenting with my grip recently and I was just sitting on my couch thinking: "I wonder what Mike Malaska has to say about grips" and bam, this video has been live for all of 16 hours. Perfect.

  10. This guy does not do the push back and push back with the hips. His hips are getting close to the ball. No wonder he is not hitting the ball at all. He should first look for Malaska videos abt that and then hit the balls.

  11. Hey Mike, I’m confused about the steering wheel release in combination with your explanation about how the wrists work during the swing. I’m not sure how you can use wrists like you would throw a ball (no twisting) but still rotate forearms to stand the club up. They seem incompatible but I’m sure I’m missing something.
