Often golfers do not turn correctly, they end up rushing in the downswing and don’t get their hands in the correct position. We all want consistency in the golf swing Weight shift in golf swing is very misunderstood and applied wrong. Shift weight is the moving body mass, and if we do this wrong it can cause bad ball striking, lack of power and this is why you can’t hit the golf ball consistently!!

  1. Nice drill it really brings in the big muscles which golf to me is a big muscle game meaning my hips are a used to work with the weight that’s involved in the drill it certainly does train you to swing the club

  7. Great video, not a lot of focus on the lower body typically. I couldn’t stop my over the top swing until I learned how to shift my weight with my legs and feet. Just make sure you’re turning your lower body first and not your upper body.

  9. I was improving due to your videos. However, last time at the range I was pulling all shots to the left (I’m right handed). So this video looks GREAT, and it looks like it should fix the pull to the left. Anyone agree? Thanks again for the best golf instruction on YT.

  10. When we throw a ball we step forward as the arm is still going backwards. Watching the pros this is what they do, it appears that they are shifting their weight towards the target as the club is still going backwards, not waiting until they get to the top as you demonstrate. Should we attempt to follow them, or simplify it and follow your method?

  16. Great drill. Another drill to try to ingrain this motion requires an empty space like Alex's range and a couple of old clubs. You swing the club but let it go, tossing the club with your swing motion. The motion you use to throw the club straight down range is the motion to use to hit the ball. This was originally popularized by Fred Shoemaker and is a fabulous drill as well.

  17. Alex, would love to see something on how to hit full swing wedges? Is it different from hitting the 4-9 iron shots? Do you compress wedges for full swing?
