  1. It's kind of funny how things have changed over the years. When I was a youth golfer, the general consensus for the grip was to point the creases of your thumbs at your arm pits. It resulted in a very weak grip, but I played for years this way. I've converted over to a much stronger grip and I have so much more control over the club and how the ball flies. Also, and I rarely see teachers make this point, but by strengthening the grip it makes it SO much easier to get hands forward at address and ballstrike. Rotating the hand into that strong position allows the wrist to flex side to side at address/ballstrike as opposed to forward/backward with a weak grip. It seems easier to adjust side to side rather than pronate/supinate.

  2. That's so crazy. I've just change my grip today and fixed my early extension. By weaking my right hand grip, my clubface wasnt't as closed as usual and i could freely rotate through impact. Also covering the ball much more 😊👍.Grip can make a big difference!

  3. Hey Alex love the video. I need some help. Intend to go left when I tee off with my irons. Dose my grip have anything to do with it.

  4. Someone once told me that the way to check your grip is to put your club on your shoulder pointing behind you. If your grip runs through your fingers, it should be comfortable to have the club parallel to the ground; if it isn't comfortable, your grip is in the wrong place.

On an unrelated not, I've been watching your videos and it's paid off; particularly following your advice to club up and hitting more controlled shots inside 100-120 yards (per your earlier video). I hit my chips a lot closer to the pin, cutting down my total putts to 27 today. It helped me break 80 for the first time! THANKS!

  5. I think I finally got the golf swing. Well I got it enough to have a good rookie swing. Thanks Alex and Danny Maude.
I broke the swing down into 4 basic parts.
    1. The grip and stance.
    2. The back-swing.
    3. The beginning of the fore-swing(from the highest point to the ball).
    4. The follow through(after striking the ball).
I found if you can understand the main parts of each of these sections then you'll have a decent/good swing.
Note to Alex… I found the hardest parts to understand were the back-swing and the fore-swing and of those two the hardest was the fore-swing. If you can get a golfer to understand what is a good back-swing and then explain what you are trying to achieve in the fore-swing… Then you are well on your way to building a decent swing.
Another note to Alex… I found the descriptor of inside out swing or outside in swing to be almost useless to a rookie like me. Once I found someone to explain what the beginning of the fore-swing was trying to achieve then it all made sense and many of my swing errors disappeared.
I find the golf culture is filled with too many buzz words. Its almost as hard picking up the lingo of the golf swing as understanding the golf swing.
I think all, up and coming, golfers should concentrate on the 4 main sections I noted. Don't just build a good golf swing but understand what you are trying to achieve in each section of the golf swing.
Final note: It took me 3 years of practicing and experimenting and watching Alex and Danny Maude and pulled muscles(from faulty technique) to finally emerge with a decent rookie swing.

  6. Ben Hogan showed us how to get a good grip. With the lead hand on the handle the middle finger, the third finger and the little finger also the thumb are off the grip. Now the handle is balanced on the hooked index finger and the butt of the handle is under the heel of the hand. The shaft is horizontal and pointed directly in front of the chest with the grooves on the club face pointed at the sky. Have a look at the illustration in his book The Modern Fundamentals of Golf. I like your ideas and tips. Ben Hogan worked all this stuff out for himself without any Trackman which I have not seen you use. Ben then shows how to get the trail hand combined. with the lead hand

  7. Great video – cannot have enough tips on grip – I love the bag lifting idea 😊 I think I actually have the club too much in my fingers something which is not something you see often 🤔

  8. Great video again Alex. But maybe could you explain more in depth about right hand position once you’ve taken this grip. What affects with hand more over top and underneath and more importantly how high up this hand also goes please. Thanks

  9. So what happen if you are left handed but play right handed. My power is supposed to in my left hand but its my grip hand. and no I can't swing left handed. It all started when I was young and taught to bat right handed in baseball.
