Nike Golf Roshe G Golf Shoe Review

Nike Roshe Golf Shoe Review

The Nike Roshe trainer came out back in 2012 and literally it went ballistic, everyone had a pair of the simple, breathable trainer. What is interesting is that the trainer seems to have died a death yet the golf version is still hanging around.

So why is the golf shoe still going strong when the trainer is no longer a thing? My theory is that between 2012 and 2022 over the 10 year period many of us would of had a pair of the trainer version and know what to expect. The golf version looks just like the trainer version but with a few subtle golf changes.

The upper of the shoe is mesh, this does not have a layer of membrane on it, it is literally like the trainer. This makes it very breathable but not waterproof in any way. Literally a dew on the morning will result in wet toes!

From the laces and around to the heel of the shoe is not mesh and this wrap around heel counter makes it nice and easy to wipe clean. The heel counter is a really nice touch to keep you stable when playing your golf shot. Inside the shoe it is very soft and cushioned for ultimate comfort just like the trainer.

The midsole is all foam giving a nice cushioned feel with every step. The foam midsole then integrates into the outsole. The outsole is really interesting, the six grey circles are targeted traction points to optimise grip. The bumps in the foam are injected unit soles which help spread your weight evenly when swinging the club. The worry with these is that they are foam and soft, wearing them on hard surfaces will mean they will soon wear away.

Fit wise, for pretty much all Nike shoes I take half a size bigger, and even though this is almost an exact copy of the trainer the fit is still tight compared to the trainer. They are super comfy, lightweight and breathable. However for someone who plays in the mornings these are no good, they just get my feet wet! £60 is a great price point but to me these are trainers not golf shoes!
