  1. I started moving the short and mid irons back in my stance a little bit to stop the pull shots. It's helping. I'll revisit this tutorial again to try to understand it better because I think it may help.

  2. I have battled with pulls in the past except my misses were more like 5 yards left. It drove me crazy trying to figure out a solution. I weaken my grip a sure enough that draw turned into a fade.A fade is something that I never want to experience again. My feet , knees , hips and shoulders have always been parallel to my intended target line. When I tried aligning more out to the right that 5 yard draw turned into a 10 yard draw. Its impressive on how the brain automatically compensates for small changes. It was only after studying hours of video and looking at swing path and face angle that I figured out. Sometimes the solution is smaller than you can imagine and like many other things start at setup. In my case it was the trail arm at setup. I noticed a very straight trail arm at address which pushed my shoulders slightly open at address. This produced a straight down the line 0° swing path. This is not a desirable swing path when the face angle is slightly closed. When I added a small amount of bend in the trail elbow at address it was like magic. The swing path was 2° in to out and the ball repeatedably ended up drawing on target. The logical part of the brain was at war with the central nervous system. Set up at address straighten that trail arm then add some bend and repeat this straightening and bending . Notice how this directly affects your shoulder alignment at address. This not only affects my shoulder alignment but directly determines swing path. So yes I can most definitely relate to this video.
    Thank yinz

  3. Shawn, do you recommend playing long irons and metals a little further back in the stance as well?

  4. Great video, important subject. I’m a great fan of your channel. You, Sav, and Mu are the best, on YouTube’s best golf instruction channel. Thanks for all your wisdom. PS thanks to you I play with a ‘very strong’ grip and during most rounds fellow competitors are making remarks about that and me aiming (too) far right 🤪 I refer them to your channel but most don’t get it. Or better, they don’t put in the time and effort to follow your advice. In the meantime, I’m improving significantly @65y 🏌🏽‍♂️1️⃣1️⃣➡️0️⃣7️⃣ in 6 months. Next goal: up-and-in within 100y in 2.

  5. Once again, I really like how you simplify the whole process. Great job, Shawn! Gosh, I wish you were in the southern USA. Do you normally strengthen both hands on the club? I use a strong left hand with a weak right, so as to prevent me from using my right hand/shoulder to dominate the downswing.

  6. I still revert back to the wrong way every now and again and I miss left. As soon as I do I know what I’ve done wrong and the rest of me round is great. Finally got to scratch after 39 years of playing. Thanks Shawn 👍🏻👏

  7. Great video!

I had my ah ha moment with this last weekend thinking about your kettle bell practice. One thing I had to do was stick an alignment stick in the ground in front of me and make sure I shot it on the opposite side.

  8. Neutral grip closed club face = strong grip straight club face! Now that’s word of wisdom

  9. Had this very issue – now no more. Always wondered why they sold alignment rods in pairs. Now I know.

  10. My ball position is back of center. I get behind the ball. I do not pull it left but my draw doesn't start right of the target. It starts straight and then draws. Therefore I avoid playing a draw. Should I be swinging to the right or straight?

  11. Great video Shawn. I am a premium channel subscriber and their is some golf gold on there. I tried for a while with the stronger grip but I was pull hooking my shots so I reverted to a neutral grip and am back to pulling shorter irons and slicing longer clubs (because I come over the top). I need to get back to the range and try again until my brain resets!!

  12. Great video lesson Shawn! I am struggling with my long irons slicing so I’m going to see if I can apply this technique to my practice session today. Thanks for all you do! Cheers!

  13. Thanks a lot Sean…Another outstanding lesson. 👍🏻 Always fun to listen to. I like how you weave your intellect in… Birds and fish have eyes on the side, to avoid predators👏

  14. I’ve been using your foot in front of the ball intermediate target and it helps but I’ve found if I keep my lead arm straight as I swing to the target my accuracy is much better, is this correct or am I doing something wrong and getting the right results 🤷‍♂️🤣

  15. Am I the only one that's a bit confused? Maybe its the alignment stick near the ball….when you set up for a draw you dont cross the stick but the blur arc has changed to the right of intermediate target… kinda confusing. 1st time confusion has set in cuz I normally get it, ur a great teacher!

  17. I finished playing with a stiff lower back and pulling the ball left
Is the swing causing the sore back or is the stiff back causing the pull ?

  18. Hi Shawn, very useful video. My miss tends to be left and this analysis helps a lot. I’m thinking throwing the club as I’m playing right now and I don’t think I’ve ever hit the ball more solidly. Please keep the tutorials coming. Simon

  19. Great video Shawn, exactly the issue I've been having. Hitting the ball a country mile with my irons but 20 yards left. I'd just started going down the "weaker grip/aim right and pull it left" rabbithole like you described so you posted this just in time!

  20. Hello Shawn! Great video again with great explanation of how to setup and "draw" a ball. Helped me a lot on the range today! As i used a pretty neutral grip with a square face for the last 6 month i recognized that – especially with driver or hybrid – when i "bowed" my left wrist, or lets say i kept the wrist pretty straight, my shots went a bit all over the place. When i started to cup the left wirst, immediately my shots transformed into a baby draw or mini fade. Is there an issue with this left wrist bowed or cupped?
Many thanks, have a nice day and keep on sharing such a great content!

  21. To start a ball directly over your intermediary target you need an inside to outside swing path & that produces a draw or a pushed fade depending on the face to path attitude.

  22. I've been fighting this for some time. Thank you for the video. Going to try it out next range session.

  23. Thanks Shawn, a great video. Does the feeling of swinging right tie in with throwing the clubs and where to release them at all?
