WHY DO YOU HIT YOUR DRIVER WORSE THAN YOUR IRONS? Golf basics

In this video, I will talk about a problem that many golfers have with their driver swing and how you can correct it. Most people hit their driver worse than their irons, and the reason for that is because they’re trying to do too much with the club. When you swing too hard, you end up hitting the ball off-centre and slicing it. In this video, I’ll show you some drills to help you correct your Driver swing so you can start hitting straighter shots down the fairway.

  1. What about the opposite? Arccos says I drive like 6 and have the approach game of a 13.

  2. I find i have to match up my grip and movement slightly different with driver vs irons.
The v in my trail hand needs to be right upto my trail shoulder and I feel my lead shoulder goes up and round in the downswing with driver vs my irons trail hand v is much more towards my right cheek and my lead shoulder is much more down and into the shot on the downswing…
Makes sense since your attack angle is up with driver and down with irons…

  3. Got a question Mark, after a fitting session for 3w/Dr, the Pro suggested that slowly down club swing speed made me hit better shots e.g. accurate, more distance and able to control the clubbed better. Can you test whether effenceny is better that speed 🤔

  4. The loft and length of shaft are huge. People need to realize that low spin low loft isn’t optimal if you can’t keep the ball in good playing position, and if you can’t swing at full speeds. The less back spin the more effect from “side spin”. Most players would benefit in distance and dispersion from a light fairway shaft and higher loft (12 maybe even up to 14 degrees) in their driver. There’s a reason the tour average driver length is shorter than typical off the shelf length and why you’ll see a lot of pros at 10.5 loft. Even then you’ll still see them make some dodgy shots.
