The Amazing CHEAP GOLF CLUBS HIDING IN PLAIN SIGHT!

Don’t ask me why it took so long, but I finally tested the cheap golf clubs that you can purchase at Dicks Sporting Goods and Golf Galaxy – the Tommy Armour 845 Max irons. I bought them on sale for only $65 per club!

These golf clubs stack up very well against other cheap offerings from the likes of Stix, Costco and Cobra.

  1. Great video, game improvement irons are great, really enjoyable golf, your spot on that distance is down, but I play play in areas of wind so either clubbing up or down anyway.
As long as you have your gap distances covered why worry.

  2. Another good budget sets are the Hot Launch series by Tour Edge I actually picked up last years set the C521 for $350 brand new two weeks ago. The new year model goes for $599 and can be ordered directly from their site and can be custom loft and lie as well for no extra cost. They also come with a lifetime warranty.

  3. These look great for folks wanting to get good value in a game improvement club.

I'd be curious to see you review some of the irons from GigaGolf; they're up near you (in Oldsmar), so not nearly as bad as driving down I75 to Fort Myers to get some clubs from Costco 🙂 But the price seems too good to be true (basic iron sets, 5-P, are listed at $150-200), and I know you'd tell us what you really think.

  4. Hey, thanks for sharing for another 4 dollars more per iron I would rather have the PXG 0211 DC

  5. They are thick on the top line, but they don't appear to have huge amounts of offset, am I correct about that?

  6. I loved Dick’s when I was stationed in the States. My son loved the climbing wall. I still use my trolley purchased there. These irons look good.

  7. Tommy Armour makes really good irons. I remember back when I had a mismatched bag of clubs and I had a 7 Iron Tommy blade. That club was by far my favorite to hit. Great review and test of these clubs. Not a fan of the thickness of the clubhead but they sound nice and seem pretty forgiving. Great price for the quality of the clubs!

  8. What is an attack wedge? AW is usually meaning aproach wedge, at least on everything I've seen up here in Canada. If it's the same thing, attack wedge sounds cooler though!

  9. Lol, ouch. The intro is killing me. Walked out of Dicks/GolfGalaxy this weekend too with the receipt for my new set of G425s replacing MY 845s from 1994. 🙂 Fun review, thanks!

  10. I played Silver Scots circa 1990. They rivaled Ping Eye2s. Found a set the other day at T&D Golf in Oldsmar. 2-PW for $169. Wonder how they’d compare to the ones you tested. Always liked the Brand.

  11. If I still lived in the UK, I would have given these a try. Unfortunately I don't think that they will make an appearance here in Thailand. Look good value set.

  12. Could you get a set of the gigagolf 410 pursuit forged irons and check them out great great clubs 300 bucks

  13. Almost thought I was watching a James Robinson video, "Let's do it now" 🙂

  14. Looks like a nice set of irons for a budget minded golfer. Always liked the old Tommy Armour 845 irons back in the day. Saw them at Dick's in Daytona Beach today. Great review.

  15. I bought a set of these same irons 2 weeks ago. Ended up walking out with this set in stiff flex and a box of maxfli tour balls for $400 with a gift card I earned with their scorecard reward points. Overall they are excellent clubs. I tried all of the game improvement irons and these had the best dispersion for me. I’m really surprised Tommy Armour clubs don’t get more recognition in the market. It’s probably due to them not having any real social media presence or marketing. My only complaint so far is the paint they used for the numbers on the club already came off on 3 different clubs. It just flaked off. Not a performance issue, but I’ve had really cheap clubs that still had that paint on them after 3 or more seasons of golf.

  16. Tommy Armour usually makes quality clubs. The XP 85 shaft is nice, too. As a "moderate speed swinger," (let's call it that to be kind) I love that weight in steel. Do you plan on getting hold of the new Cobra Forged Tec and X irons? Would love to have your thoughts on them!

  17. Gabe, hope it is going good. Can you do a Iron shoot out like you did with drivers. I know it would be hard to do and you would need to find a course with no one there. But a Iron tournament would be awesome.

  18. Great video. I actually bought the Stix set after the video (in silver to avoid the one negative). I particularly like the honest reviews, no editing of the bad shots, makes it very relatable. Rapidly becoming my favorite YouTube channel.

  19. thanks but no thanks on the “new and improved” 845’s. Those original 845 Silver Scots were more of a players iron.

  20. Glad the Tommy Armour line was finally considered for a review. I've seen them so many times in the DSG stores, but really did not know anything about them. Pretty good clubs, Tx Gabe.

  21. I have the Bushnell launch pro on order. Do you have any golf mat recommendations? Also what screen is that you’re hitting into?

  22. Since when is $600 a cheap set??? Way overpaid for that junk, buy a used set of a quality brand for less than half of that.

  23. You can also order them custom fitted like any high end club along with the woods and drivers. The Tommy Armour line is very under rated. Dicks also owns Maxfli whos balls are awesome. Top Flite is also now owned by dicks and that's obviously the low quality house brand, while TA and Maxfli are high end.
