  1. That’s one of my problems and hurting my score is flag hunting. I’ll walk to the ball and say to myself I’ll go for middle but over the ball I’ll go for the flag and sometimes pay the price and play a bunker shot next 😫😫🏌️🤦🏼‍♂️. Great content 👍

  2. Mat I always try and play to centre. A old friend golfer once told me play to centre put to corners. His name Derrick Cooper. Malc tickle from wigan.

  3. Great method Matt. I think it really takes the pressure off aiming at specific points. Bit difficult to force yourself to do it with flags in but I'll give it a whirl next Tuesday.

  4. One thing I started doing is dividing the green up into three tiers and aiming for the middle of each tier when hitting my approach shot which has saved me a few shots

  5. Great information. I have found if I just stick with my strategy of keeping it in front of me and just hit smooth shots I usually score a lot better and hit par often. When I try to get too fancy it can bring the big numbers in play. Thanks

  6. Do you have any advice on playing in tournaments? I'm playing in club championship in a few months I don't play well under pressure and my nerves get the best of me.

  7. Some of my best rounds have been played this way. It's a great way for me to build my mid-short irons and putting confidence.

  8. Jin Young Ko strategy is aim for middle of every green and leave yourself an uphill putt, she is No1 in World!

  9. That's how I play most every green. Some greens play for front or back, but every green is played most often center side to side.

  10. I've been ignoring the flag for years. It has helped my game, but honestly, I'm so bad I"m not sure what would make a big difference!!

  11. Unless im <150 yards from the pin, I take my yardage to the middle of the green and aim for that.

  12. I play a scramble once a year called the "No Pin Open". They remove all the flags from all the greens. Have 2-3 holes cut. You putt out to whatever hole your team commits to when you get up to the green. Brings in strategy without knowing where to be. But ideally all 4 guys cover all 4 quadrants of the green with their approach shots. But we all know that doesn't happen in a scramble lol. It's some of the most fun I've ever had on a course with my clothes on.

  13. I like this strat but I’m a member at Woking and anyone that’s played there will know if you’re hitting the centres you can be left with some seriously tricky putts 😅

  14. I had to play no pins for nine many years ago. Some kids had stolen them. It taught me to play middle. The best front I've had ever. Thanks Matt for reminding me that is always a good strategy. Thanks Matt

  15. Fair enough aiming for the middle of the green, but I would still play according to how far back the flag is placed.

  16. I'm a beginner (20HCP) so I'm always playing to the center of the green anyway because that's what the GPS gives me and I'm not good enough to bother trying for the pin.

  17. That's a great way to approach each hole, I'll give it a bash and hopefully my scores come down. Cheers

  18. Great video I’ll have to try this next time I’m playing. I do play aggressive sometimes and pay the price.

  19. Awesome idea!👍. So hard when playing not to get drawn in to having the flag as my main focus in my mind, got to work on how to focus more on whatever is more sensible to aim at yet less prominent – any suggestions Matt?

  20. Great video Matt!!! Really points out some things, mainly "shaping" shots! It's great to have the ability to "shape" but I think that more often than not it's plainly just too much than what is needed. Be Safe

  21. I'm doing this next time I'm out! Just not sure how I'm going to get the guys in front of me to take the flag out

  22. We are started off watching Rick videos on YouTube. Now I much rather watch Pete or Matt. Especially videos together. A great laugh
