#srixon #mizunopro #223 #zx7 #forgediron #ironcomparison
I compare two great golf forged irons from 2022, the Mizuno Pro 223 iron against the Srixon ZX7 iron in a direct comparison looking the feel and performance of each iron. Plus I feature a direct accuracy test……..which iron wins??

I’m gaming ZX5, previously played Mizuno 850 forged. Switched primarily because I wanted a lighter shaft and had x-flex 130 KBS Tours in the Mizzys. Went to KBS $-taper shaft in stiff flex. Enjoying them so far.
First, Because they are expensive. Second, if you don't get fit, may be you Will regret IT. You know, even with a 2×4, you Will hit IT like butter. The Srixon deserve better
None of these for me i'me afraid as i have just received the MP 225. Hugely impressed with them as they were an upgrade from a previous Mizuno iron family.
Just watched the video. Almost identical performance, but one is significantly cheaper. Hmmmmmm.
ZX7 is easily my favorite iron i have ever played
ZX7 definitely underrated, I got MP 225’s on the way 🙊
Your last golf swing tip has really made a difference! So simple, but so effective. Thanks!
Like Srixon. Really nice looking iron but where do I try them?? You’re right that Mizuno / Taylor Made have better accessibility..
I hit 223's last week…not even close to my zx7s..i hit miuras 801s an 901s ( im a lefty) yesterday, not even close to my zx7s…i wish srixon made lefthanded wedges, clevelands are not srixon
Playing a ZX5/ZX7 combo and very happy with them.
I have a set of PXG Gen5 irons that just came out…I just ordered a combo set of ZX5/ ZX7 after hitting them…the turf interaction is unreal, super soft and LONG. Beautiful irons for the money.
One thing that is often overlooked is the forgiveness built into the ZX7 sole. I think Inside, off of a mat doesn't show it as well as on course testing. The heavy/fat shot with the ZX7 is going to fly closer to stock yardage than most other irons. I would love to see a 6-10 handicap test on course with these. I'd love to see a 11-18 handicap test between ZX5 and 225 on course too.
I have owned the ZX7 for about 18 months and got a set of Mizuno Pro 223 2 weeks ago. The Mizuno's are nice but I decided to stick with the Srixon ZX7 and sold the Mizuno's to a Buddy… You forgot to mention the Mizuno Pro 223 4-7 Irons are Chromoly which feels like hitting a Marshmallow : )
I like the look of the Mizuno
Playing ZX7 so much better than anything else, except maybe a Muira.
Just made the switch from Taylormade to Srixon. 0 regret
Mizuno
Can you review the new forged tec 22????
that V Sole is the absolute best. i have a combo set of ZX5/7 and i’d rate them with anything else on the market
For the divot takers out there just get the srixons you'll love em cut thru the turf like butter. Also way more forgiving than you'd think
I game the z765's and I love them. My next set will be Srixon for sure.
I think the 223’s are horrible like the mmc’s before, I just don’t see the point especially with the 225’s being more compact than the hmb’s. I’ve just bought the 921 forged and they feel lovely with loads of forgiveness
Love my Mizuno Pro 223/225 combo set.
Honestly the Srixons finish makes it look cheap.
I would go for the 223’s but I don’t need irons now; I was custom fit for 2019 Titleist T-200’s last Spring.
If you had to pick one or the other to be more or less forgiving which would it be?
Isn't the 221s more comparable? With the 223 the zx5 would be more the "same" maybe in wrong but…
Not a big fan of the pebbly look on the Srixon iron back…looks like an unfinished iron to me…unlike a Mizuno 221 and 225 (the 223 should be in the 921 category) that looks like someone took time to carve each head out of a block of iron by hand….just me…
I got fitted for ZX5 just so powerful & the turf interaction when you catch it right is fab I liked the look of ZX7 & Mizuno forged but at high teens h-cap they were too big a jump from my game improvement irons 😊
Michael: The Srixon ZX7 4 to PW here in the USA runs for $ 1137.43 Look great but some how I still like the Mizuno though not the model you are testing…Thanks…
I like the older Srixons and I couldn't get over how ugly these new irons look. I went with the 223s and love the feel of these over my MP25s…
I didn’t like the sound off the club face with the ZX7. I so wanted them to be the irons that worked for me but I could not get around the impact sound…… couldn’t afford Mizuno so went for Taylormade P770’s…… ⛳️👍🏻⛳️
Tried them out and the t100 but settled with the wilson staff blades. Those bats are amazing
At the end of the day srixon is just not “sexy”. Golf has an element of glamour/prestige (can’t quite find the right word) that goes with equipment choice (whether that is logical or not). It makes no sense for most people to want blades, but we all aspire to it. The mizunos (223 and 225) look most like blades. Hence the appeal. To paraphrase Jeremy Clarkson, you don’t pick a wife because she is only practical. Golf is the same. IMHO
Oh, and I ended up ordering custom fit Mizuno 225s.
Look at the cost of things currently in the world and how little improvement there is in irons in the last 10+ years.
PXG 0311 gen 3
WT** WHY this crazy LOUD music …. ?!!!
Dont worry, Srixon / Bridgestone etc are not underrated in Japan / Asia. They are as high quality forgings as you would get anywhere. Virtually no difference between the two. Personally id go the ZX7. Yes the back does look a little ugly, but they work !!! Brooks Koepka has them in his bag, replaced his Mizunos with them lol….
You need to start adding PW and 5 irons to reviews
What’s your average (or ideal) angle of attack for your 7-iron?
Planning on testing them this summer, due for an upgrade. Would have to go ZX7 for the set 3 iron, personally. If the 223s had that, I'd keep them in contention.
I have both of these irons and they are both great but there’s one area I think the Mizuno slightly beats out the zx7’s. The shape of the 8,9,pw,gw are just so bulky on the Srixons and in the 223’s they get smaller and transition into wedges better IMO. Both great though. Zx7’s great for soft turf 223 for firm.
I have the Srixon ZX7 enjoy playing them
I would have to go with the Srixon because of the sole and the price. Both are great clubs.
Is the V sole good for a sweeper?
I went with the 223s during my fitting. Went with weaker lofts because I hate the idea of a 32 degree 7 iron. Lol. Had them since they dropped and absolutely love them. P7mc, t100, zx7 are all great irons.
How about the zx5 vs pro 225?
I hit both and really wanted to like the zx7s … but 223s were by far my favourite. Looked better, felt better and performed better.
I have never hit mizuno or srixon clubs before until the othe day. Both felt great, but if I had the pick surprisingly the srixon would slightly edge out. Looks mizuno wins the day all day.
