I'm still mad about the lottery too gents. It seems to hurt teams that need the help most. One team goes from second place finish to first overall pick, THAT is crazy. And my hate for the Devils grows. It feels rigged. In any case. Can we talk about Leah Hextall, and how terrible she is? Im all for women in sports, but shes gotta go. It isn’t about whether Trotz is/ isn’t a ft or if Stevie Yzerman is/ isn’t interested. Will Chris Ilitch spend money on a head coach? It is time to talk about the ownership question marks to the Red Wings that everyone has with the Tigers. Yes, the Tigers have AJ Hinch who is arguably one of the best managers in baseball, but he was signed on the cheap after his suspension for Houston’s sign stealing scandal and has an opt out after the 2022 season. That does not give confidence that a head coach would be paid what he is worth. I know this is a cap league but this also needs to be in the back of everyone’s mind, will Chris Ilitch spend close to the cap/ become a cap team? Red Wings fans assume because it is a cap league and that the revenue from this market is abundant so the money will be there. Will it? The final cap hit from the 2021-22 season was $70 million, but the actual money spent on paychecks was $61 million. Is it Stevie Yzerman showing restraint on spending or is Chris Ilitch giving him a budget? I know everyone believes that Stevie Yzerman wouldn’t have come back unless he knew ownership would spend money, but who knows? Chris Ilitch doesn’t have a benefit of the doubt track record (see Detroit Tigers: over half decade rebuild, spent nearly $300 million in the off-season that brought the payroll up from bottom 5 to below average, and a 9-22 start as of May 11, 2022 after a 9-24 start in 2021. Don’t forget the District Detroit, 7 years in and only public funded Little Caesars Arena has been built).
And let's not forget, EDM could have EASILY upgraded at the G and D position before the deadline.

In terms of most impressive rookie seasons this year , it's Seider and Zegras indisputably. Seider carried predominantly two horrid D partners and Zegras played with noted plugs Deslauriers and Grant (at different points) for about 40% of the season. Z was also was on the ice with Shattenkirk and Mahura a whole lot, both of whom are tirefires defensively and have insanely low hockey IQs. Mo and Z should be 1 and 2 respectively, while I think Swayman Raymond or Lundell easily could've been the 3rd candidate, despite Bunting producing and having good underlying numbers. Great crop of rookies nonetheless

I think we'll find out the only reason Raymond didn't make it in top 3 is because Seider will be the almost unanimous winner. I'm thinking 90% first place votes. It will be Seider….then 2-3-4-5 probably all very close.

Ottawa has had a horrible luck. In 2020 you forget Stutzle was actually SJ’s pick that actually stayed just at 3rd, theirs actually went DOWN from 2nd (2nd worst record after Detroit) to 5th! Not that Sanderson won’t still be an elite defenceman still
