  1. @hermanwilliamsgolf Thanks again. I must say my game has improved more and faster over the last few months seeing your videos and talking on here than in the last 10 years. Thanks again.

  2. could you do a lesson on what the right arm does in the downswing, what does the right elbow do thanks

  3. This lesson is really helpful for beginners like myself. My local instructor told me to grip the golf club with my right hand V pointing to my right shoulder, but I couldn't get consistent result.

After watching this video, I tried to change my grip, and the result is much more consistent. It turned out that when I grip with right V pointing to my right shoulder, it gives me too much room to rotate my arms, therefore inconsistent.
    Thanks a lot!

  4. Thank you so much for this video series. The grip alone has changed my game exponentially. I'm a beginner golfer (about a month now) and I was extremely inconsistent, and was very often barely getting the ball off the tee. I'm now driving balls about 200 yards consistent. Cant wait to get the power down to be driving 300+ :). Thanks herman!!

  5. just as a matter of interest herman, when you say the interlocking grips has it's problems, what are they? i use an interlocking grip and i seem to have a problem getting the club turning over, i often wondered if it was anything to do with my grip, and was thinking of changing to the overlap, but im not really sure if that would be a viable option or if it would make a difference……..thanks in advance

  6. Thanks for the reply Herman. I watched the setup video, the part about the arm on top of the chest is interesting as I used to be a member of Rotary swing and they were teaching shoulders back basically, which you can't really do with the upper arms in front and it did feel rather unnatural to me to do that as your upper arms are somewhat on the sides of the chest. It fixed up my tilt a bit as well. Thanks again.

  7. Herman,

I have a question with overlap grip. Do you always have to overlap right over left or can you overlap the left index over the right hand? Same position but opposite of the right over left. Your advise would be great. I found the overlap is allowing me more distance and control… what are your thoughts.

  8. Herman thank you so much for your info now i know why i have a tendency to slice the ball my grip is very weak

  9. Herman!! I gotta say i've been Hermanized over and over again watching your videos and its improved my ball striking and my over all swing greatly. I Would love to have you analyze my swing via the V1 golf app front and side on view of my swing! I have a quick question.. after using the inner lock grip i have now adapted to your suggested overlap grip. My right thumb has a huge blister on it from using short right thumb down shaft. Is this correct right thumb placement? thanks!

  10. Thanks for the reply. I am a right handed golfer and my right thumb has always been 12oclock position on the shaft, like my short left thumb. I did catch myself applying pressure with this right thumb on the shaft, after watching your videos. I didnt play golf for about 3 years then started playing again recently and first thing that happened was a huge blister on my right thumb from this… and playing 18 holes 3 times in 1 week might not have helped out either.. hahaha.. Herman you the man!

  11. i disagree with the thumb being on top or close to it on the grip. i recently took a lesson from a respected teacher of the yr in utah. he showed me how my thumb had to be more on the side of the shaft.thus insuring that the handle is under and maybe just a little left of the snuff box. this insurers a proper cocking and cant get it behind me. changed my swing in an instant. its different for everyone.

  12. Your last sentence is the key … it's different for everyone. I would agree with everything you did in your lesson. But a video for a million+ viewers that is part of a sequence talking about a flat left wrist in backswing and overhanded release will work best as I've described it. If you recall in the video the thumb pad is on top but the thumb is not running straight down the shaft. It runs at an angle which still allows the heel pad to sit at a slight angle across the top.

  13. Man Herm thanks for the vid this was an excellent help to my game being that I was doing alot of slicing!!! Def recommend this video to anybody having ball flight problems!!

  14. Awesome video, but I like my grip just a little strong…main help was the specific placement of right hand.  Also love the release drill but that's another vid

  15. Herman, I've been searching golf instruction for some time. Just recently started going through all of your content. I must say you are exceptional at teaching. You balance being concise and thorough like few others. This grip lesson is especially critical. How many of us have a poor grip and go around applying "fixes" to improper fundamentals. Working on getting my grip neutral and the club face has never been as square. Thanks for all that you do.

  16. I just found your instruction videos on U-tube and just wanted to say, wow and thank you. I followed your advice about setting up in a neutral grip on my last golf round. I found I was making much better solid contact and my usual big slice was gone. I am watching your series on getting more lag in my swing. I think your tips are going to make me a much better golfer. Thanks for Hermanizing me.

  17. Herman..I've been golfing for about 6 months. Been taking lessons once a month and have started to shoot consistently in the 90's. However in past couple weeks I've noticed my left hand getting weaker and weaker. Resulting in me making compensation during swing. I see other videos telling people to have left hand thumb over more to 1 o'clock calling it neutral. I find it extremely awkward. Afraid of losing all the progress I've made..

  18. herman been to lots of coaches, been told picking club up ect and shoulders crooked, but no one told me about right arm reaching like in your videos.after years or frustration your 3min video has cured me.why so many coaches missed this?many thanks.hope you come to uk owe you a drink.

  19. Herman. I have taken lessons from you at the Golf Academy and purchased some Ping clubs from you. Where are you now? Would like some additional lessons? Hope you are well.
