Nicely timed review. I’m due for some new wedges and have been stuck between SM9s and Ping Glide 4.0s (kind of a random Vokey competitor, I know, but I think Ping really nailed the shape and looks with this round, and both have grind options that work well for me).
Love seeing some left handed Vokey’s come through 😂
the satin finish is super clean
My SM8’s are still fresh, got them custom built last fall. No need to change. Amazing how soft they feel for a non-forged wedge. I’ve had SM4’s 5’s 7’s and now 8’s. The only wedge I might look into next are the TM milled grind 3’s
what is your opinion on getting a 50 in the set of irons? I feel like every time I get a 50 degree like a vokey that it gives a bigger gap between my gap wedge and my 45* pitching wedge which is a callaway apex mb that flies closer to 150 and my 50 degree only flies around 130… I'm tired of either bunting a pw from 135 or having to try and hammer a gap wedge.. idk if youve ever had a gap wedge that actually is a part of your iron set but I'd love to hear your opinion. Great video as always Matty!
I wanted to love these, but didn’t. I realized I am a callaway wedge guy. Ended up with my second set of jaws
I like mine even though I liked the toe on the SM8 way better. It wasn't super bulbous like this one is. But my launch on the 58 has gone from around 29 to closer to 27 on average with more spin.
Good strikes Matt. I’m surprised a Ping guy hasn’t said in the comments “Hey Matt the Ping Glide 4.0 wedges would be better especially from the rough”.
🙄
Just picked up 2 new SM9s after a fitting – hadn't really appreciated how much the grinds made a difference. Noticeable spin upgrade from my SM8s though so very pleased 👍
What are your grind preferences? Also, do you prefer raw finishes?
Always funny that people swear by forged irons but vokey has never made a forged wedge but continue to set the benchmark for wedge feel and shot making.
When I first got into golf I needed wedges because I never had any, an someone said you can’t go wrong with Cleveland. An I’ve had two eagles with them within 2 years of picking up golf. Def love them but wonder how many I would have if I went with vokey? 🤔
My sm8s are still in good condition so will keep them will wait for the sm10s in a couple of years
I wish I had a 88 mph club head speed on the wedge… My 7 iron doesn't quite get there… I mean I can but is is wild
Best wedges I have ever hit. 50/12 54s bent to 55 60L S400 shaft as well
Does the big chunky high toe area bother you at all on the lob wedge? I wish they could use tungsten to add weight up there rather than make the lob wedges thicker at the top.
Might as well order them now, Titleist are quoting 8-12 weeks for custom wedge orders. Maybe your fitter can get them faster.
I've got 2 old 54/58 vokeys that I've had forever (the 54 is just a "Spin Milled", and the 58 is an SM4, but they still spin so well I haven't had to replace them yet), and those are the lofts I'll want with my new SM9's. Question is, my irons ('19 Callaway Apex Forged) are 1" longer than stock and have Project X 620 MB 6.5 shafts in them, which I love. I've never had vokey wedges with non-stock shafts in them, so I'm guessing they've all been the standard Dynamic Gold S400 or something similar, and while I don't mind them at all, should I custom order the new SM9's in the same shaft as the rest of my irons, or would not really make a huge difference? I NEVER hit a full shot with my 58, so I can see that that's entirely personal, as that's 100% down to feel, but my 54 is my 75-125 yd club, so performance does come into play with that club. Any thoughts?
How much bounce was on the demos? That was great thin strike performance
I’ve got 100+ rounds on my SM7s with lots of practice in between. Given the options that titleist provides on grinds and bounce…might not test much else. SM9s it is! Thanks Matt!
My SM9's are on the way in 48/54/60
Hi Matt, which bounce did the wedges have ? Cheers
Great job yet again, Matt! I was wondering if you could ever do a comparison of the various full face wedges out there. Or at least give your opinion on the pluses and minuses of each that you have tested in the past.

Love your stuff. However, I think you need a sidekick to make the channel what it could be. I miss the back and forth between you and Ian.
Thanks for the videos Matt. I hope you can continue doing these videos. They are always brilliant and informative.
Great video. Would be great to see a video where you go through the bounce and grind options and what we should be considering.
love my sm8s. I wish vokey made 7-9 iron too. which irons are most comparable to vokey wedges? titleist CB? T100? mizuno MP20?
Great video Matt!
