Footjoy Flex golf shoe review 2022

Footjoy Flex Shoe Review 2022

What I Think.

The Footjoy flex golf shoe has been around for a few years now and with a few design tweaks for 2022 in my opinion it is a much better looking shoe.

For me, this is a shoe that you don’t necessarily wear to play golf in, it has the look and feel of a trainer. You could literally drive in it to the golf course, have a coffee and breakfast in them and change into a different pair of shoes before you play.

The upper of the shoe has the mesh finish, this is great for breathability particularly for the summer to stop your feet over heating. Around the toe and side is not mesh but more of a membrane to help keep dew and light amounts of water out. Remember this shoe does NOT come with a waterproof warranty.

The soft midsole gives a nice cushioned feel when walking, inside the shoe is it also cushioned around the ankle once the laces are tied. Across the back the achilleas support goes higher just like on the new Footjoy fuel shoe.

The standout feature for me on this shoe is the outsole, it has the VersaTrax pattern as seen before in other Footjoy models. Basically parts of the shoe are a slightly harder rubber so when your walking or driving it does not simply rub away. Other parts are a little softer and the way they are placed gives grip when on the course. As the outsole touches the grass and you turn etc you get grip.

As mentioned they do not some with a waterproof guarantee and are designed to use almost as a golf trainer or to play in when it is nice and dry on those summer days!

They retail at around £79.99, which you can argue is a lot for a pair of non waterproof shoes, however £79.99 for a pair of trainer is more than reasonable.

I personally have a pair of these when im working at the club or coaching in the studio, they are so comfy all day.

Fit wise, like most Footjoy’s they come up a little big for me, I would advise going half a size smaller.

  1. Dave thank you for the review. I wasn’t aware that FJ made versatile shoes like this. I like the clean look of the white. I might scoop up a pair. Take care!

  2. Would you recommend these shoes if I was just going to the driving range? I’m always hesitant taking my cleats to the range since I’m not actually playing golf.
