Greg Norman has had a lot of miracle shots thrown at him in major championships, and as a result, its always been said that he is an extremely unlucky golfer. The truth is he has had many opportunities to win majors, but has blown those with poor shots at the critical time. He could’ve won 4 Masters titles, this one 1986, 1987, 1993, 1995, 1996 (he surrendered a 5 shot lead in Rd 4). He’s also blown Open Championships as well.
I believe it’s more of a failure to close out the big tournaments, even though he’s won many.

Without a doubt this was the Best Master's of all time. I remember the whole thing like it was yesterday. I was 17 year's old at the time and watched the whole thing live with my fellow High School Golf teammates. Believe it or not, my favorite golfer growing up was Greg Norman. I was pulling for him to win. Sadly, his second shot on 18 was his undoing. Nicklaus was my second favorite golfer of all time, and this was a win for the history books.
I was 11 years old when I watched this originally. This is an almost perfect broadcast. Kudos to the great Frank Chirkinian and the CBS crew. Spellbinding stuff.

How generous of the American coverage to not show Seve’s rise to the top of the leaderboard on the front 9 whilst showing every shot of some other players. And they finally cut to him after he has hit a bad drive at 9.

I remember watching this that day, and thinking that when Seve shook hands with his brother after that GORGEOUS swing for his second at 13, he had offended the golf gods and saying to myself " He just lost the tournament. I was brought up believing that under NOI circumstance do you EVER shake hands with anyone, particularly in celebration until you hole out on 18. Your not done, it's NOT OVER till then.
At 2:11:45, after Seve finishes at 16 and walks off the green, check out the guy at the back of the green I call "Happy Happy Dancing Guy" looking at the leaderboard , arms up in anticipation having heard the roar from 17, and getting his groove on when Jack's bird is posted. Wish I could make somebody that happy!

im watching it now and streaming to my Apple TV. It doesn't seem like it was 36 years ago that I watched it while standing up putting into a cup because I was too nervous to sit down, watching my hero Jack win it. I'll be at the Masters in two days for the first time and will finally get to see Jack in person and watch him hit the ceremonial tee shot. I'm beyond pumped!
No sporting event will ever top jack in 86… it's the only sporting event I cried over. but they were tears of joy!!!!

I remember Jack vs Arnie is 70's. my Dad was a Jack Nicholas fan, my grandpa was Arnold Palmer fan, it was so much fun to watch those 2 battle in the 70's. 86 Masters Jack always said it was his best win
