Scottie Scheffler is on a hell of a run. I wish him the best throughout his career. I think the reason people aren't freaking out about his recent performance is that many want to see consistently and winning throughout a career which is extremely hard. This is such a small span of time. If he wins a few more over the next 2-3 years, then I'll start putting him up there with the Superstars.
I watch Sheffler's swing and I'm amazed at how effective it is considering his finish looks completely different almost every time and his footwork is bizarre. He has a one way miss (he cuts the ball) and it's so hard for him to turn it to the left he has to completely contort his body and swing to turn it over but that's actually a good thing. Right handed golfers NEVER want to see the ball going left unless they're trying to do that. His short game is absolutely outstanding though. I'll be interested to see how long he's able to maintain this level of play.
This podcast was much easier to listen to without Guy, keep Matt in.
as a competition it was extrememly boring none of the top golfers in the world are performing anywhere near the standard required, Scheffler was a deserved champion he basically had it sewn up on friday night and is the only playing at that level consistently at the moment. It is always nice to see Augusta
Koepka did hit it in the water in 2019 when Tiger won.

Matt… THATS EXACTLY WHAT I SAY ABOUT RORY ALL THE TIME. Just hit a bump and run and stop hitting the highest shot.
Compared to previous Sundays this was absolutely a snoozefest once Cam Smith fucked up on 12. I had high hopes for a stellar finish after the 11th but sometimes it just doesn't happen like that and that's okay too.
Great 10 minutes on Bury, Rick. Feel lucky to be a member there. Spoke to you about getting them in early as I regret not taking it up sooner (2 years in at 39 and loving it), it's a great social sport for adults and more so for the kids. Despite not knowing them long, Chris and co. are brillaint.
I’ve got to say, Matts comment on Rorys wedge play is spot on. Hit it high, spin it back 10 yards away from the pin is not an unusual shot. I am a crap golfer, but honestly believe Rory needs someone close to him to be completely honest to him about this. Sort that out and Rory will win more majors IMO.
No offence but podcasts with Matt Fryer are so much better. He really knows a lot about golf and can read the situations well. He can listen, doesn't cut in every minute and says only sensible things.
Saturday morning was euphoria watching Min Woo Lee and Victor Hovland playing together in a feature group. RS Podcast represented!

I feel that Rick and Matt should play 18 holes matchplay with Sandy Lyle…And, as for the main question: was it boring? Well half way in, haven't heard more that 1 sentence about the actual winner…it was a fun Masters but the winner didn't spark much in most folks I think
Sandy has earned the right to play in the masters by winning it, that’s the deal for every champion

What great news about Bury golf club, the game has a great opportunity to grow again after a period when clubs were struggling as it became too expensive. Do think though a simple £1.00 a head “voluntary” contribution would not be too much to ask.
Clubs need to be more welcoming, course nearest to me I phoned to ask about the driving range to be told it’s members only! how not to attract me to the course, play it and consider joining.

Just a treat to have Matt on. The two of you are an encyclopedia in the golf world. Gives me an insight to a sport of which I never knew a lot of stats🧐
Matt & Rick – I'd love it if Sky Sports signed you up to be part of their commentary team! You guys are so articulate, knowledgeable & your commentary on Pro golf is so relatable to me a mid-handicapper golfer,,, and I'm sure would also help inspire even non-golfers when watching Sky's coverage.
