Grand National Festival 2022 Preview & Tips | Day 1

George Elek is joined by oddschecker tipster Andy Holding and racing broadcaster Rory Delargy to look ahead to day one of the Grand National Festival at Aintree.

They talk through Thursday’s card which kicks off with the Grade One Novices’ Chase, War Lord currently heading the betting. There are two more Grade Ones on the opening day including the Juvenile Hurdle which sees Pied Piper go head-to-head with Cheltenham winner Brazil. The feature race of the day is the Betway Aintree Hurdle, taking place at 3.30 – Zanahiyr and Epatante are the market leaders in this one, fresh from being second and third to Honeysuckle in the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham.

Andy also provides a weather update for all three days at the Festival.

  1. Kemboy ran at Cheltenham in 2019 before winning the bowl (albeit for not very long-unseated at the first!)
