With all the high MOI putters available, how much does controlling center strikes have on distance control ?
Can't putt anymore, had yipps but claw cured but putting is now poor. How to build confidence again? Cheers.
In my opinion the trick is you have to feed your non-conscious mind as many different putting experiences as possible. Then in a match just let your mind go blank and when it’s your turn, allow your non-conscious mind to fine-tune your alignment, and at some point, the putt will take place.
Thanks for this video. It reinforces advice I hear during discussion at the 19th. I am now concentrating on getting the ball to within 500mm. Rather than trying to hole it first putt …which is statistically hard I'd rather guarantee my 2nd putt. Cheers
I understand the idea that the hole gets smaller if you hit the ball too hard but equally if you putt dead weight it will take more break an less likely to hit the hole. From distance anything within a three foot circle is happy days but from within say 15 feet you will hardly ever see a PGA tour player leave a putt short, there has to be a reason for that.
No magic formula or club.. just practice enough to develop a "feel" and then get out of the way.
I've always had the feeling that if the ball has more speed (and consequently momentum) and a hobby golfer is playing on greens like you have indicated less consistent and well kept, the well struck straight putt has a better chance of staying on line. Maybe you have addressed this at some point, but is there a distance at which hitting it harder than necessary is statistically beneficial?
