Newcastle United co-owner Amanda Staveley has revealed at the Financial Times Business of Football Summit that her consortium had looked at purchasing Chelsea in the past.
She also said that she is “sad” that “someone will have a club taken away from them because of a link they may have with someone”.
Amnesty International has called on the the sale to act as a catalyst to reform the Premier League’s owners’ test.
