239,000 people went to St Andrews in 2000 for the 129th Open Championship, to experience the excitement of The Open for themselves. It is the largest crowd to ever attend an Open Championship.

Tiger Woods won his first Open Championship and became the fifth and youngest ever player to complete a career Grand Slam in front of the record breaking crowd at St Andrews.

The fans witnessed world class golf from some of the most exciting players on the tour including, Thomas Bjorn, Ernie Els and Seve Ballesteros.
