2021 Montgomery County Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
Welcome to the Montgomery County Sports Hall of Fame 3rd Annual Induction Ceremony
Greivis Vasquez (Basketball), Charlene Thomas-Swinson (Basketball), Mike Curtis (Football), Richie Anderson (Football), and Deane Beman (Golf) have all earned their place in the Montgomery County Sports Hall of Fame.
Greivis Vasquez, the second all-time leading scorer for the Maryland Terrapins, went on to playing 7 seasons in the NBA. Charlene Thomas-Swinson, a two-time McDonald’s All American for Montgomery Blair High School, has coached women’s basketball for 32 years. All-American and Super Bowl champion, the late Mike Curtis played 14 seasons in the NFL. Richie Anderson, excelling at multiple sports at Sherwood High School, playing 11 seasons in the NFL, subsequently coached in the NFL for the Jets, Cardinals, and Chiefs. Deane Beman is iconic in the golfing world. Beman has won four PGA tournaments, the U.S. Amateur twice, and the British Amateur once. He then became the second commission of the PGA tour and saw tremendous growth of the PGA over his 20-year tenure. After stepping down, Dean Beman spent another 12 years playing on the Senior Tour and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2000.
