Chelsea manager Emma Hayes has called for VAR to be introduced to the Women’s Super League following the opening weekend of the season which saw her side lose 3-2 to Arsenal.
Hayes said to Sky Sports “They went 3-1 up, she’s two yards offside, but we’re not there with VAR yet. We should be demanding that. We shouldn’t expect lower standards for women’s football, we should demand that VAR and goal-line technology is part of our sport and as soon as possible.”
Sue Smith discussed whether this is a realistic possibility considering the financial cost of implementing VAR across the league.
