Team GB&I were led out by Hannah Darling and AIG Women’s Open star Louise Duncan, who faced the daunting task of the world’s number one and two ranked amateurs representing Team USA in Rose Zhang and Rachel Heck. It proved to be a fascinating match up as the game went 18 holes without a winner.
Team GB&I came away with both points from the following morning games, with the standout performance coming from Annabell Fuller and Charlotte Heath. The duo put on an impressive display as they defeated the Team USA pairing of Rachel Kuehn and Emilia Migliaccio 4&3.
Team USA looked to bounce back from their disappointing morning results when they teed it up for the afternoon fourballs, but Team GB&I appeared to have other ideas.
Annabell Fuller and Hannah Darling would carry on from their fine morning form to come out on top in a tight battle with Rachel Heck and Emilia Migliaccio. Team GB&I then pulled further ahead when an inspired performance from Caley McGinty would lead her and Lauren Walsh to a 2&1 victory.
Rose Zhang and Allisen Corpuz fought hard to come away with a win on the last hole against Annabel Wilson and Emily Toy. A huge point in the final game gives Team USA something to build on in day two.
