In this video, Golf Podcast Co-Host Michael Fasano shares his backyard golf renovation project from start to finish. Most avid golfers will agree that having a home putting green or driving range right in your yard is a dream come true.
The project took 3.5 months from the planning to the final touches. Although MUCH cheaper than a pool, this project certainly wasn’t cheap and the putting green still requires some minor maintenance including keeping it clean in the fall, covering it in the winter, and well … that’s pretty much it.
As for cost, depending on the material you use and the excavation required, backyard putting greens can vary dramatically in cost. But we’re happy to report that for the size of the green Mike had installed, the total cost of the golf green portion of the project with labor was under $3,500! Tree excavation, plants/shrubs, and the stones were a majority of the overall project expense. So if you have the land clear for a green, it could fall right into an affordable budget!
Mike opted for the turf called Precision Putt from SYN LAWN and you can tell by the quality that it will last a LONG time. Now let’s see if it helps his short game….
