If you intentionally throw, spin, or roll the ball out of your hand to affect where it will come to rest when dropping the ball to get it back into play, do you incur a penalty?

A.
No, this is seen as a wrong way to drop the ball and does not count as a legitimate drop. You must then correct your error by picking up the ball and correctly dropping it. If you don’t correct your error and end up playing it from within the relief area after the incorrect way to drop, you would incur a one stroke penalty.
If the wrong way to drop error led you to placing the ball within the relief area, then you would incur the general penalty if you had played it as it lies.
