SHORT GAME SERIES | HOW TO USE THE BOUNCE – THE CORRECT WAY!

USE THE BOUNCE… That’s what all the best short game players do, right? But what does that term mean? And how can you benefit from learning to “use the bounce”?

Wedge bounce is the angle created between the leading edge and the lowest point of the sole or trailing edge. This is the area of the club that hits the ground as it contacts the ball. The greater the wedge bounce degree, the higher the leading edge is off the surface at address. Having the proper wedge bounce and grind option promotes optimal contact, control, and ball spin.

Learning to “land the bounce” on the ground is the skill that separates the best short game players from those who struggle with making solid, consistent contact.

This video contains a coin drill inspired by PGA Tour player, Brett Rumford, and can help you develop the essential skill of low-point control and arc height/depth which will allow you to master the strike from any type of lie around the green.

If you try this drill, make sure you let me know how you got on in the comments.
