Speed Drill for Consistent Distance

Hey, Quite The Chap here for GoflersRX. You need a consistent golf swing.  Well, we’ve got a fancy rangefinder; it tells us we have 150 yards to the green…and we have no idea what to do with that information!

In today’s video, we have a drill to help you develop a consistent golf swing.

We have 150 yards to the middle of the green. Cool. Now what? We pick that club that gets us to around 150 yards, one putt for birdie, and walk to the next tee box…? Ideally. But how do we know how far the club actually goes?

Here’s a great drill to dial-in your distances with consistency.

Consistent Golf Swing

Pick a target on the range…for argument’s sake, let’s pick 150 yards
Pick that club that you think goes that distance
Hit a ball at 50% of your regular swing
Move up to 60%, 70%, 80%…up to the point where you’re swinging as hard as you can

Now it’s time to do a little self-actualization…
What speed did you feel the most comfortable at?
At what speed did you feel make the best contact?
What speed did you feel in control?
And last but not least, how far did that particular ball travel?

Consistent golf swing drills are how you start to dial in your clubs. Call it the ladder drill, the speed drill. You can call it whatever you want. But to create a consistent golf swing that you need to hit the same yardages over and over again consistently, you need to be able to replicate the same golf swing.  This is one of the secrets to a consistent golf swing.

Until next time keep it simple.
