Swing Thoughts in Golf – Golf lesson and golf tips on what swing thoughts (and how many) you should have in your head when executing a golf swing.
► Golf Swing Thoughts Tips – Video Golf Lesson Summary
As you get more and more comfortable with the various aspects of your golf swing you will want to head towards the point where you no longer have to think about them, to the point where you are able to swing naturally without having to think about anything really.
When you are on the golf course, the objective is to focus on executing a consistent swing, without crowding your head with too many swing thoughts, swing faults or swing ideas.
In order to do this and clear your head of any swing thoughts, look at the ball when you are in your address position and focus on one of the letters of the ball brand. Intensely focusing on the golf ball will clear your mind of any other particular problem or improvement you are trying to make, relying instead on your muscle memory to produce your golf swing.
We play our best golf when we are not actively thinking about the different aspects of the golf swing. Working on your swing and breaking down its components should be reserved for the range during practice sessions, not when you are playing a round of golf on the course.
If you really are struggling with an aspect of your swing during a round of golf, it’s ok to let a swing thought creep into your head but only allow it during your practice swing, before hitting the ball.
