STORYLINE:
Phil Mickelson struggled through the back nine at Kiawah Island in South Carolina on Saturday but held on to a narrow lead at the PGA Championship going into Sunday’s conclusion.
Mickelson was 5-under par for the day after 10 holes, but had to settle for a two under 70 in the end to stand at 7-under for the tournament, one shot clear of Brooks Koepka (70) as he aims to win a sixth career major and second PGA title.
If successful, the 50 year-old ‘leftie’ would become the oldest winner of a major title in the history of the men’s game.
Louis Oosthuizen, who began the round tied with Mickelson, sits third at 5-under after signing for a 72.
Kevin Streelman also finished with a 70 and lies fourth at 4-under.
