The 70-100 Yard Bunker Shot.

Here we have Academy of Golf Dynamics instructor, Randy Dalton, discussing the set-up and technique for executing the 70-100 yard bunker shot……..one of the hardest shots in golf. Most amateurs will simply grab the sand wedge as always and try to swing harder and longer and still come up short or skull it. The best option to make this shot easier is to simply club down. Depending on the length of shot, you could use an 8 iron, 9 iron or even a pitching wedge. Then you’ll play the shot pretty much like a standard greenside bunker shot. Open the club slightly to expose a little bounce, grip down slightly and play the ball forward in the stance. Because the ball is forward slightly, your shoulders will automatically be a little open….now favor your weight on your forward foot the entire swing and swing along your slightly open shoulder line. Again, this is one of the tougher shots in golf, but with a little practice, you’ll be able to consistently execute it with good results.
