The fear of falling is natural. Climbers still confront this fear occasionally even after having many years of experience. The best thing that we can do is to manage this fear to prepare yourself when the critical situation arrives.

In this episode I shared 4 practical tips on How to Overcome the Fear of Falling. I also interviewed a member of the Philippine National Climbing Team to give her insights on how she overcame her initial fear of falling.

Check out Eric Horst’s book for mental training in climbing: Maximum Climbing. This is one of my few climbing books and I would recommend everyone to read this as well! He also gave tips on overcoming the fear of falling as well as other tips. Taking practice falls (my third tip) is also his advice when it comes to overcoming the fear of falling.
