I had a couple hours after work to get on the water, and after 2 successful lure trips in a row on Wappoo Creek I decided to try and challenge myself. I broke out the ultralight spinning combo (KastKing Valiant Eagle 1000 reel and 7′ UL Dawai Laguna rod) and a Bellaire swinging weedless ned rig and started casting along the grass on my favorite flat. Pretty immediately I started getting bites and I had an amazing evening out there with lots of drag pulled and several big redfish landed. I wasn’t planning to go out after work that day, but I’m sure glad I did.
